Does anyone know about or live in a KB home or community? I know there are several states that have them and when we were in WDW last week I saw an infomercial on them but didnt stay for the entire show. Also we were in St. Augustine on Sunday and drove through one community which looked nice. Curious if anyone has an opinion. TIA for any responses.

I did a search....mainly because we will be locating a a few years and I am always on the lookout for interesting prospects. First thing I came up with was http://www.kbhomesucks.com/

not a good sign LOL

This one might give you more info

and apparently, though not surprisingly, you can buy them on ebay.

They are building in the subdivison that we live in. Some of the houses here already need a new coat of paint--2 years old and younger. I do not think they were painted that good to begin with. We looked at KB, but they did not have a plan that worked for us. They seem to be a growing company. I have not heard any big complaints about them from my neighbors. Good Luck.

OMG:earseek: That website is certainly informative....I kinda had a feeling about a homebuilder with an infommercial. Thanks Faith!

I dont want to offend any one that owns a KB home, but they have changed their name due to bad publicity and news reports. My GF just moved to Texas from Jacksonville Fl. and I went with her on her new home search.

KB will build anything to make a buck. The floorplans are terrible and they even built a house that has a 2 car garage, but each car has to be behind the other, not side by side. Can you imagine trying to get out to work in the morning? This was so they could put the houses even closer together.

I think they used the cheapest everything and the price really doesnt reflect that because you still pay a nice premium. In my area they start in the $70,000's and they have dropped the prices several times to get to that point.

My GF chose a Legacy homes and almost a Gehan. She closes on her new home in 2 weeks. She is military and a single parent so she definitely does not have lots of money.

HTH.

They have built a lot of homes in the SF Bay Area. They are the typical tract home. (or maybe even more poorly-made than the typical tract home!)

Well, that is one I have never heard of. The best reason for a two car garage is so that you do NOT have to park behind each other. Sounds nuts to me.

This is one of the reasons I like the CB. You can always find someone who knows what you want to find out.

Yes this was a home that we actually walked thru! Cant imagine anyone wanting to buy it!

I guess they think that people are so desperate to own that they will buy anything.

Our first home was a Kaufman & Broad in Pleasanton, California. Although we had our share of problems with warranty issues, it was a cute home with a good layout on a decent size lot for the price we paid.
