Does anyone hold their arms up on SM?

My 6-foot-3 father, who is more of a rollercoaster daredevil than is healthy  has been riding Space Mountain with his hands up from the beginning and still has the same amount of fingers he started with.

I find that the forces pulling on me keep my hands from extending to the full height, but I can't imagine the ride going this long (and through a recent major reno) if it were unsafe.

I'm surprised how many of you do hold your arms up. I know "logically" it should be safe, but I've seen pictures of the scaffolding, and it looks too close for my comfort level. :scared1:LOL Maybe I'll try it a little bit since so many of you lived to tell about it.

It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself on SM or BTMRR or Matterhorn that there is no way I'll lose my hands (I'm 6'2"), I just can't do it. Heck, on SM, I worry that if I don't bend my head down enough, something awful will happen. I still love the coasters, but I just can't raise my arms. I always want to, but then I worry that I'll lose them.
