I was told by the ER doctor to take two Aleve twice a day for pain management for my kidney (as a continual thing, not as a short-term thing.) Today, when I told my pastor about my ER visit (omitting anything about the cysts or the tilt of my uterus), he told me that he would be concerned about that amount of Aleve because he has heard that it's high in sodium. Does anyone know if this is true or are there any other side effects that you've experienced from it? TIA

According to their website, each tablet has 20mg which is considered low sodium.

4 tablets a day is above the maximum recommended dosage on the packaging. I would definately consult with your regular physician before taking that amount every day.

I personally have never been able to take Aleve because of stomache upset.

Thanks, Toby's Friend...I had read the label and knew the dosage was above normal, but thought that as long as I had been told by a doctor to take it that part should be fine. I am definitely going to follow up with Student Health as well since the kidney pain that she told me to take it for wasn't the only problem and I'll definitely ask them if they have any other recommendations for "pain management" as she called it.
