Does anyone here sell their crafts for Disney money?

My long term goal is to work only part-time and support myself mainly through my crafts. I don't know if it will ever happen, but it's what I'm working towards. In the past I have made and sold flowered grapevine wreaths, painted votive candle holders, decoupaged flower vases, really cute animal print purses, and various other things. I usually do not make much money off of them but it is because I don't charge enough.

I'm wondering if anyone here supports themselves partially from their crafting hobbies. What do you make and who do you sell it to? I have only sold things to people I work with. It looks to me that crafts do not sell all that well on ebay, so I haven't tried that. I've thought about setting up at craft fairs, but I'm hesitant about investing so much money into it.

I haven't yet but I just started scrapbooking and already some of the people at work want me to make pages for them. I'm also going to make some wreaths to sell (probably on ebay) this fall. I bought lots of clearance stuff for them. And if they don't sell, I won't cry.

But, yes, it is all for Disney money.

I have a friend who paints wooden figures as well as other crafts. She did this for a number of years as was quite successful! She always took a table at a number of craft shows in the fall. The majority of her stuff was for Christmas, as that sold the best.

She is extraordinarily talented & her stuff is beautiful! She encouraged me to try it as well & I was slower than she was, but I think the quality was comparable. However, I never came anywhere near her level of income! There was one show she did on an annual basis (with a $25 table) at which she sold $800 worth of stuff in a morning & had to leave early - she ran out of stuff!

I think, though, that a part of her success had to do with the area in which she lived. We went to a number of her "shows" and they were always mobbed with people buying lots of stuff at a number of tables. The couple of shows I did around here were relatively poorly attended (from a seller's viewpoint) and it seemed the majority of people were there to "look."

We did craft fairs and bazaars for years.
The location makes a LOT of difference. Here in the low populated country setting we live in we didn't do as well. And the people didn't appreciate the work that went into the crafts.

In the city, however, there is more money to spend, people are in awe of handiwork........and are willing to pay for it.
We finally gave up the traveling (too time consuming........but it was fun for the 10-12 years we did it) and DH sells mostly at his workplace now.......and always sells out.
He is a woodoworker.
