Does anyone here PREFER the Values or Mods to the Deluxes?

No way! While I've only stayed at CBR, WL, and the Poly, I 'll take deluxe every time. I just need the amenities that come with a deluxe and the theming is so much better. Now I do like the look of All Stars movies and would be the first to stay in it of they had a deluxe version!

I prefer the Mods because they're heavily themed; allow for bike riding; and permit parking close to your building.

I didn't worry about my kids roaming the resort alone -- there are no "outside" folks gaining access via the monorails wandering about or conventioneers (except for CSR) to be concerned about. :sunny:

Outsiders would have access to the moderates by bus.

As to the preference of our family, we much prefer the deluxe resorts.

We like the additional transportation options, more recreational facilties, spas, larger rooms and larger beds, balconies and patios, interior hallways, expansive lobbies, full service restaurants, and valet parking.

To me, just being able to AFFORD a trip to Disney is a treat. We stay where we can afford to stay. So far, never in a deluxe. This time, a value. Last time, a mod. But we're in Disney and that's all that matters! :goodvibes

I can't say I prefer value over the moderate and deluxe. I do prefer deluxe resorts. They just offer more. Better location, better transportation, has great full service restaurants, queen beds or bunk bends with a queen bed and room service, they have kid's club...

I love the Polynesian  and WL  I can't get dissapointed if I stay at the value or moderate because I also love POFQ  and ASMo  and POP as well. But my first choice would be deluxe if it's in the budget.

We've been to them all: Deluxes, Values and Mods.

So far, Coronado Springs is our absoluete favorite!

Prior to staying at Coronado Springs we had stayed at all deluxes (CR, Poly, AKL, WL) and I have to agree the Coronado is our favorite..then the POFQ. I love to sroll around the lake at the Coronado or walk along the river at POFQ. I never get that congested feeling I always get in the Deluxes during busy seasons. Since we try to go at least once a year we have no longer feel in a hurry to get to the parks. 10, 15, 20 mins. is not a problem. As a matter of fact we have never noticed how long it takes to get to a park. We are on vacation and just kick back and enjoy!

DH & I have stayed at all three--value, moderate, and deluxe. As long as we are at WDW is all that matters. Right now we have two trips reserved. The first is the week after Thanksgiving with just DH & I splitting our stay between POFQ & the Poly. We will be returning to the Poly for our 30th wedding anniversary! :lovestruc In Feb. we have six rooms reserved at Pop. There are 13 members of our family going on this trip. :grouphug:

DH & I have already started talking about another after Thanksgiving trip for 2006. At first we had planned a split stay with a moderate and the GF. Because of the cost of the GF we would have to shorten our trip. After consideration we have decided to forego the GF to stay longer at a moderate. We can stay longer plus include the dining with a AAA package. If funds do not allow I would much prefer staying longer at a moderate or value resort. The GF will come some day! :genie:

My bank account prefers Moderates over Deluxes, by far :rotfl2:

Actually, my bank account would be on cloud 9 if I stayed at a Value resort, but I just can't bring myself to leave POR and that boat ride to DTD every night :rotfl:

In reading these posts, my conclusion is.......... It's all one's preference. What's great for one is not great for the other. Everybody has different tastes. While I am trying out the Pop next year, I do believe I will enjoy it, because that is how I like things. Yes, if I had the money, I'd probably try out a deluxe, but darnit, I've been waiting too long to get back there and value is the only way I can go right now. I'll be letting you know what I think in January.

It's also one of my life goals to try each of the Disney resorts at least once anyway! It's my family that makes it tough with all of their demands! As the vacation planner, I feel tremendous pressure to make sure that everyone is happy with the resort. If it were just me, or one of my kids and myself, (as long as all of the resorts had Internet capability in the rooms), I could stay at a value. I like the idea of the food courts, and the lower price! :flower:

I agree! But I really think each place has its charms, and I'd eventually like to stay at each hotel, since one of the things I REALLY like is discovering new parts of Disney. I'm trying to save something new for each visit. Price is usually factor though. Instead of a real deluxe, we have more than once found the Swan with discounted rate to be the best value for us (great location, great beds, fun decor).

I don't really care where we stay. As long as we get to go to the parks, I'm happy! :teeth:

mickeyluv'r~ Funny you should mention the Swan! We have reservations for December, but we're "between jobs", so the trip will be cancelled if DH hasn't secured some kind of employment between now and then. We have the room paid for with Starwood points, but we'd still have to spend on the rental car, meals and flights. We've never tried the Swan before, so we're hoping it works out! :goodvibes

I'm afraid we are addicted to the dvc rooms and deluxes. On one of our upcoming trips I fully expect to becomed addicted to concierge, which will be a real bummer! :rotfl2:

I LOOOVVVEEE thewilderness ldoge, however, DGS loves the Values. So I suck it up and take him there (after all--the trips are all about him). I then use the $$$ I saved to take him back again. But I would love a week at Wilderness lodge again.

We love the deluxes, but we only stay when we can get a great rate. Otherwise CSR for us :earsboy:
