Does anyone here knit or crochet?

I'm stuck in a rut and quite honestly it's making me a miserable person to be around.
I decided to take up a new hobby in order to meet new people and thought that crotchet or knitting would be a good idea. I'd love to be able to make blankets like my Meme used to make.
I'm just not sure which is easier for a not crafty at all beginner.

I find crocheting easier. My mother always did it but could never teach me but after my first DS I taught myself. I could never quite manage the two needles it takes to knit and I didn't have anyone around to ask. Lately I've been doing a lot of cross stitch (mostly Disney).

i crochet. My grandmother taught me but it's pretty simple to pick up. When I was first learning, I bought a sample book for an afahan that showed over 80 patterns. I really HATE making blocks so I pick one pattern and make the whole blanket like that. I've taught both my girls to crochet and they love it.

I can not knit, however. I've tried to teach myself but can't figure it out. I need a grandma for this I think.

I AM the 'anti-Martha'. Seriously. I had never met a craft that liked me.

Until my MIL decided she wanted to spend quality time with her daughters and DILs. We all signed up for a knitting class through our town's "Adult Ed" program. Horrible teacher. Terrible projects. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE knitting now. I am the only one that stuck with it, and now I take classes at a local fabric store (Saftler's in Whitman).

I can't crochet well at all (I need my instructor to do any crochet finish work that's needed), but I can knit up a storm.

Many craft stores, and yarn stores will offer some sort of class for beginners.

Never tried knitting, as crocheting seemed easier for me. Definitely a good hobby that keeps your mind occupied, passes time, meet new friends and make pretty gifts.
