I will be staying on property 5 nights in March, but attending a conference at the Convention Center 2 of those days. I am exploring the possibility of using UBER for transportation back and forth to the Convention Center. Anyone done something similar? Impressions? Cost? :moped:

I use Uber probably 2-5 times a week where I live in Washington, DC. It's extraordinarily wonderful and easy to use. Once you load in your credit card (securely), you can price out the cost of each trip, and the app will tell you the estimated time to get each time of service - uberX for people acting as taxis with their own vehicles; regular Uber if you want a black car; and the SUV option if you want a big vehicle. They even have a feature now to book regular taxis, at least where I live. Since tip is automatic, it's a breeze to use. The only possible hurdle I can see if you're not used to it is the price hike for "busy" times, which usually is 1.5x the normal base fare. Definitely recommend it though!

We just got back from Disney and we used Uber about a half-dozen times without a single issue.

Were you primarily going in between resorts? How was pricing for that?

Resort to resort in the MK area was $5-$7. GF to DTD was $15. MK area resort to Epcot area resort was $16.We've taken taxis before and Uber was generally 30-50 percent less.

I was thinking of using this for my daughter and her boyfriend (early 20's) to get to and from UO this coming March. If anyone has done this please pipe in!

Thanks...

Did you happen to take an Uber ride to a park?

I'm wondering where the Uber drivers get to drop people off. The taxi locations are very convenient at Epcot, DHS, and AK. If they get to drop off/pick up in the same place, then I might consider skipping the rental car and using taxis and Uber....

I talked to a couple who took Uber from BC to Universal and back. It $25 each way and they loved the freedom of it!

We did take Uber to the park (DHS) and they were allowed to pull into the taxi waiting area at the front of the parking lot to drop us off.

Does anyone know if Uber in Orlando has vehicles that can accommodate a family of 5. No need for boosters or anything like that, just 5 seats in addition to the driver.

No personal experience yet in Orlando, but the only service in Orlando now is UberX, which is sedans. Here in DC, there a separate UberXL SUV service, that has seating for more than the 3-4 offered by UberX.

Thanks for that info. Looks like it won't work for us unless they add the XL service before our trip in December.

Can you use this service if you are using an ECV? How do you find them - who do you call? TIA!
No calling anybody with Uber, its all done through an app on smartphone. You have to set up an account with a credit card or PayPal in the app and be able to send and receive texts on that device.

The ECV would have to fit in the trunk of a sedan (Corolla, Accord, Altima)...Uber has a separate service with larger vehicles that hasn't yet launched in Orlando. It possible some of the Uber drivers might have larger vehicles, but not likely.

Just used Uber this weekend in Atlanta with a group of friends and was surprised at how nice and easy it was.

For those who have used it to be picked up at their resorts, where abouts did the driver pick you up at? I did not make the Uber booking myself when I've previously used it, but I am assuming they tell you what kind of car to look for once you book it in the app? I'm just concerned about not being able to find the driver after we book it. Thanks!
