We will be staying in a 2BR BCV and will be there for 2 weeks. We have a 1.5 dd and a 4.5 dd and will need periodic breaks in the evening.

Does anyone have any experience with the babysitting services in Disney world (phone numbers, costs, opinions) etc... How did you work it? Did you have the babysitter put the kids to bed at night?

Any info. and strategies would be much appreciated!

Hi. We've used Fairy Godmothers 4 times now for DS, 2, and have them slated for two more times in May. This is a private company, run by a family, unlike Kids Night Out, which is the Disney-sanctioned company.

It's not cheap, $12 an hour (4 hour minimum) plus $12 transporation fee. They take cash only, and we also tipped. But we liked our sitters (we've had two different ones) who were both grandmotherly types, very gentle and loving. They came with their own suitcase full of toys.

The last two times our son didn't even look up when we left! The sitters gave him his milk before bedtime and put him to bed. He was sound asleep when we returned.

I'll dig up the phone number for you. A warning about the owner: She's a little gruff and almost seems unfriendly. But her sitters are great.

Basically you call and give her the info of where you'll be staying and the times you want someone, and the ages of the children. Then when you get to your resort, you call and confirm and give her your room number.

We used the Fairy Godmothers this past fall and our three kids loved it. Definitely worth the money to have a night out to ourselves. She came with some toys for each of the kids ages just in case we did not have any. We had brought some, but since hers were not ones they played with all the time they played with those.

We had an interesting experience with Kids Nite Out. Shortly before the sitter was due, the office called us and said that the sitter had a family emergency, and her replacement could be as much as an hour late. When we told them that this would goof up our dinner reservation for my wife and my one "date" together on the trip, KNO took the initiative to call PS and shift the reservation for us. (It was at the Brown Derby on a very busy night, so they must have done some begging on our behalf.) In the end, everything worked out fine. KNO comped us part of their charge, and the sitter they sent was great with the kids. I was pleased that when trouble cropped up, they actively tried to solve it rather than sticking us with the mess.
