Does anyone have an iPod?

I'm thinking of getting one and wondered what people thought of them? I'm looking at the 15GB regular iPod (not the "mini"). I've read a few reviews on some websites but wanted to ask my DIS friends.

My main questions are:
(1) What kinds of games are on it? Anything worthwhile?
(2) What's your experience been with battery life? I think it's supposed to have 8 hours of play before being recharged.
(3) How long before the battery is dead-dead and has to be replaced? Can you replace it yourself? I read that you have to send it to the company and it's pretty pricey if you don't have the extended warranty. Some people complained that the battery dies in a year -- but who knows how these people use it. It wouldn't be daily usage for me.

Any input would be appreciated!!!

iDont know what your talking about

Mine is too new for me to be any help to you -- but do what I do and call the Apple help desk! With my first powerbook and my ipod, the help desk is my new best friend. (ANd I am it's worst enemy!

I would say that the battery doesn't hold a charge for very long!

Hey!
1.umm...theres solitaire, this game where you have to shoot down parachuters, and then this game where you bounce a ball off a platform to break bricks over head.
2. It's probably about 4 hours from my experiences, but it could be my problem ;)
3.Oh god i have no idea, it hasn't worn out for me yet. Yes I would get the extended warranty if you have the money.

Hope it helps!

Bellhop I'd agree with the 4 hours estimate -- I have to constantly recharge.

But it's the coolest thing ever anyway.

imho, no. but i didn't buy it for the games. ;)

i tend to ff or rew a lot, and i probably get about 4 hours. i just recharge it every night.

i have no clue. i've had mine for 6 months and i use it heavily and so far so good. :)

I have a 40 GB. The games are very weak. I get around 6 hours on a battery charge. I bought the Belkin external battery pack that runs on Alkaline batteries and gives me around 32 hours beyond the internal battery. You cannot change the internal battery, it has to be sent back to Apple to do that. Definitely get the extended warranty. I had a 20 GB for about 2 years, it died and they just gave me a 40 GB as a replacement (it was the same price at that time). Very worth it. I did replace the earpods with Sony noice reduction headphones. If you have a PC and you want to sync it, forget MusicMatch. Get Media Center, it is much better.

Mine's pretty new, I think I got it in January? I can get a full day's worth of listening at work 9:30am-6pm and still have some power left. I charge it every night at home. The less you flip through song lists, use the backlight, etc. the less juice you'll use. I've found the little battery indicator on-screen is pretty useless. YMMV.

Honestly, I haven't even looked at the games. I've got some fun games on my color screen cell phone, so I use that.
