I have one. I went to our local beauty store, Ulta, to buy a Chi. The worker told me that the Chis are great, and they are the best sellers. She said that she, however, prefers the Rusk because of the curve on the handle. She said that it straightens the hair just as well as the Chi, but the curve on the handle helps to control it and turn the hair under/up as you straighten. She said that the Rusk was also on sale that day, $110 instead of $135.99. It also came with a free blow-dryer. So since the worker recommended it AND saved me money AND gave me a free blow-dryer, I bought it. It works wonderfully. I am very happy with it. It gets my hair straight (I do have naturally curly hair.) and the curve handle DOES help me to control it better. I prefer it over my friend's Chi. The deal that you are getting sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I paid over $100 for mine.
Don't forget to buy a smoothing cream for her hair. Also, if you can find a straightening thermal defense spray for her to spray on it before she puts the straightening iron on it that will also help. I have some that come in a set. They are an off white/yellowish bottle with a black lid. They start with an "L".........something like Larenz/Lorenze.........I can't remember exactly......something like that.
