Does anyone have a pre-lit tree?

Just make sure that there are enough lights on it...for a 7 foot prelit you want at least 1500 lights on the tree otherwise it looks pretty sparce....

Thanks. That's what I was noticing with the one at Walgreens. It's smaller than 7 foot, but I think it only had about 400 lights and I wondered how scarce that would look.

Unfortunately, it is $139 and with going to WDW, I would rather save my money right now, put up our old tree and hope Lowes has it on sale after Christmas.

Hey, it's all about priorities! Can't say I blame you there!

BTW, I got mine at Lowes and it's really pretty. :teeth:

I got a pre lit tree this year from Walmart for $30.. 6 ft.. and I love it.. was super easy to set up.. would have been nicer if it had a few more tips, but not bad at all for $30... Its all decorated and looks very nice..

We have a pre-lit and it even has white fiber optic tips. It's much smaller than 7 feet though.

Our 4' pre-lit tree.

I love it. Was so quick to set up and no messing with strings of lights. Please ignore my ugly walls. We are remodeling.

Myst

We got a 6 1/2 foot prelit tree this year- got it at Garden Ridge. They had all their trees on sale for 30- 40% off, so it worked out to be about $57.00. It has 400 lights. We had a 7 1/2 footer previously, so I was a little worried this new one would look kind of chintzy compared to it, but it looks really nice! Very full, and you just can't beat snapping it together in a couple of minutes, plugging it in, and it is ready to go!

The only thing I worry about is how long the lights will last- when they start to go, will I have to replace the whole tree? But even with that concern, prelit is the way to go.

We had a 7 ft artificial (not pre-lit) for a number of years. We tired of the assembly, and the newer models are simpler to set up. Last year we bought a 5 ft fresh tree, but this year I bought a 4 ft pre-lit artificial at Big Lots. Finances are a little too tight to spend $100 or more on a 6 or 7 ft tree like I would prefer, but with a 6 month old pup in the house we decided on the lesser expensive 4 ft to put on a table.

I was leary of the quality of a cheap tree, but the Big Lots where I bought it is closing, so I got and extra 20% off the $12.88 price. If it only makes it through one Christmas I'll be satisfied and won't be out a lot of money. It was the easiest thing to set up - it's all one piece and only required attaching the three legs to the bottom. Now that it's decorated, it doesn't look bad. It's just funny seeing a small tree....and since pulling it out of the box and setting it up, the pup hasn't shown any interest in it (other than when I initially took it out of the box).

Just bought a Pre-Lit tree this year. We got a 7 1/2 foot with remote control (white/color/both). Got it as a doorbuster on Black Friday for 99.99 at Linen's and Things.

We had a big tree that took forever to set up. We gave it to my brother when we moved.

Never thought to look at Big Lots. Will check out Walmart, too.
Our tree is so old and it is a pain to put together, too.

Thanks for the info.

I just bought my first pre-light tree from Wal-Mart, it is a Martha Stewart one. I am going to put it up today. I am sure that I am going to like it. :goodvibes

I ordered the prelit, either white or multicolor or you can have them both lit 7 1/2 remote control from qvc. I LOVE it. You don't have to worry about wrapping the light around and untangling it. It's just a small convenience that I love.

I bought the same tree and love it. Even my dh (the Christmas tree snob) likes it.

Remote control? That's cool!

The only drawback to my Lowe's-bought tree, is I have to get down on my knees (on hardwood, no less) and dig for the button to turn the thing on and off. To make matters worse, it's under the tree-skirt and to make it worse than that, there are presents on top of the skirt!

I have to fully amortize my tree, but when it konks out, I'm looking for a remote...

I have a 7 1/2 foot prelit with 1000 multi color lights and it is very bright. It is a nice full tree, took about an hour to fluff it. If it had another 500 lights I would have to wear sunglasses to look at it.

Why don't you leave it turned on and unplug the cord at the wall?

I bought a 7 foot prelit tree @ 90% off at Target last year (I think it cost me $15). I love it, it takes less time to put the tree up and decorate it.

I was thinking the same thing - I have a 7.5 foot with 900 lights and its very bright. I just love our pre-lit, this is our second season with it - it takes all of 10 minutes to put it together.

Am_I_There_Yet - why not just get an extension cord with a timer attached to it? It would make life much easier.

Just bought a 7 1/2 pre-lit at NAMCO this year. I paid a fortune for it ($230) but it is great. I am VERY picky about my trees though, and I thought many of the cheaper ones looked very chintzy in person (though great in the advertisements).

Ours has 2,800 tips. Even still, it looks a bit sparce in a few areas, but I rearranged the branches and have it pretty good now. A lot of the cheaper trees have half those tips, so you can imagine what they look like. I also have an issue with the color of the tree. I like a bluish/green tree (like a blue spruce), not a bright green ("I am so artificial") colored tree. At least in my opinion, most of the cheaper trees just looked horribly fake to me. I guess it is all about personal preference, but I definitely would look at the tree in person before you buy.

On an aside, our 7 1/2 foot has 800 or so white lights, and it is BRIGHT. We don't even need to use additional lighting in that room unless we are reading because it throws off so much light. For a tree that size, I would think anything over 1,000 lights would be blinding. And I like A LOT of lights on my tree, but 800 is plenty.

The Martha Stewart 7 1/2 foot tree I just bought has 800 lights. It is PLENTY bright--much more so then when I had my 4-5 sets of lights on my old artificial tree.

I agree with you about the color. This Martha Stewart tree is GREEN. My last tree had the blue/green color and it was beautiful. I was just so "not into" tree shopping though that I sent my husband out and told him to just get the one at K-Mart.

At first I was thinking, "I can't do that! It's too close to the tree base!". Then I had my "Duh!" moment and realized that there is indeed a strand of lights attached to the other end of the on-off button.

Sometimes you just need someone to knock some sense into you. :headache:

Thanks!

We have an old artificial tree that has seen better days.
I love real trees, but I am allergic to pine. So, I saw an ad in Walgreens today for a 6' pre-lit tree for only $20.

Are they pretty decent trees? Any problems?

I guess for $20, even if the cats tear it apart, it's not that bad a deal.

Lisa

Lisa, what a coincidence!! My DH and I just bought that tree!! Our kittens brought down ( and broke) our larger artificial tree last week so we were looking for something smaller and decided to try this pre-lit tree. It is PERFECT for what we need!! :)

As far as the kittens are concerned....the tree is more manageable because it's small enought to keep an eye on where they are. :teeth:
