Does anyone have a Photo Printer?

Hi,
My old basic Lexmark's getting tired after getting our digital camera, and has been printing photos like crazy. And printing slowly, I might add, lol.

So, with a trip to Disney in May, we thought it would be nice to get a Photo Printer.

The only question I have is do they 'eat' up ink like regular printers do when printing photos, or because they are specified for photos, does the ink last longer?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark I own a HP 1315 Photo Printer and I LOVE it!! I have had it for little over 2 years. We only use it for photos. It is excellent. I do know that HP had more recent updated versions. I would only buy another HP photo printer.

I have a Lexmark Z65 photo printer. It works great. I've never had a regular printer so don't know about the ink. This one doesn't seem to use a lot though ... :D

We have the newest HP printer that prints the 4 x6 size pictures. We haven't had it that long, so I'm not sure about the ink usage yet, but we're really pleased with how the pictures look.

I have an HP PhotoSmart 1000. I'm really pleased with the quality of the pictures. It figures that I got it then got a digital that uses the tiny postage stamp sized memory so I cant pop it in the slots and print from there.

I have an HP 7550. It has the little LCD screen so you can see the photo and resize it. It prints borderless 4X6's and can take 4 different sized digital cards. We got it for Christmas and it appears to work wonderful! We have been pleased!

FYI -- Somehow you can also email photos from it, but I havent tried that yet.

I have a Sony dye-sub photo printer. It prints 4 X 6 photos that look like they came from the developer and should last 100 years because they have a protective coating. The quality is fantastic!

I have a photo printer, but I never use it to print photos. I put my photos on a CD and bring the CD to my local grocery store and have them print the pictures. Why? The photos printed using regular photo printing process ink and paper will last as long as photos taken with film. Your ink jet photos will begin to fade in a couple of years.

If you can't burn CDs most places will also take your pictures on your media card.

I just bought an HP photosmart 7350 printer. I love it! It prints 4x6 prints and larger. You can just insert your memory card into the slot without doing anything with your PC.

I was looking around for a photo printer and discovered it's much cheaper to have it done online, you just upload the files, they send back the pics

I do what Alex suggested above and I own a photoprinter.
If I have just come back from vacation and I have 200 pictures to print (I take to many pictures. Digital Cameras do that to you.. Thats 200 out of the 400 taken) I will upload all the pictures I want to print to Walmart and have them mail them to me. (.26 cents a shot)

If I only have one or two pictures to print, in between for what ever I am doing, I will then use my Photo printer.

From what I understand the new Photo printers from HP use new ink cartridges that cost less than the old ones.

I am a personal fan of HP printers. I currently have 3. I keep upgrading. ;)

Good Luck! Check http://www.steves-digicams.com/ for reviews on the printers. It helps.

Got DW a digi-cam for Christmas, now she's complaining about printing them out, so I'm probably going to get the Sony Dye-Sub printer for her as well. My BIL has the Kodak Dye-Sub printer, pricey but it ROCKS!, full 8X10 protective film on Kodak Paper.

if you check out the site that cindy_k mentions they review an off brand dye-sub printer that supposedly is awesome and much cheaper to operate.
