Does anyone have a daughter with reflux?

I was wondering if anyone else had a daughter with reflux. My daughter was diagnosed with it at age 7 after several urinary tract infections and with that scope that they do. Just was wondering if the antibiotics helped your child, if they grew out of it or if they needed surgery and also if you noticed that swimming, staying in a wet bathing suit brought on an infection. My daughter has been on a maintenance antibiotic for a couple of months now and just today got her first UTI since starting the antibiotic. I would love to know if anyone else has experienced this with their child. Thanks.

My daughter was diagnosed with reflux at age 7 she will be eight next month. We had an upper GI series done. We did not have infections. She always complained of stomach aches and would constantly have the stomach bug for a good 24 hours straight of being sick every 10 minutes or so. She lived on Zantac for 12 weeks and seems to be better - has not complained in quite a while. What does reflux have to do with UTI infections?

She means bladder reflux, not gastroesophageal reflux

I had bladder reflux as a very young child. Back then (1970) surgery was the treatment. I have a lot of scarring on one kidney (from the reflux, not the surgery) but I have normal kidney function. After surgery, I didn't have problems anymore with UTI's.

My best friend's daughter also has reflux. The treatment plan now is to do the meds and only do surgery as a last resort. She took antibiotics for years. I think she finally grew out of it. She's 13 now and is off meds and is fine. I hope your dd will grow out of it too

My DD#1 was diagnosed with this at age 2. They grade the reflux (or they did in 1994) on a scale of 1 to 4. Hers at that time was a 3. They said they'd recheck in a year and if it was no better they would do surgery. She was on an antibiotic for a year (a blessed, blessed year of no ear infections, etc.) and the next year it was a 1, which is the least it could be! She was growing out of it so she hasn't been tested since 95 and is 13 now, never even has a UTI. *knocking wood*
