I am just curious. I work part time and go to school full time. DH helps out when he can but our place looks like a bomb hit it!! I was considering getting a cleaning service to come in once a month to do the hard cleaning that I just don't have the time for. Does anyone have any experiences... good or bad... and how much $$ do you spend?

Thanks!!

Merry Maids comes to our house every other week.

For $167, they clean the bathrooms (2 full, 2 half, 1 3/4), dust, mop, vacuum, change bed linens, and clean the kitchen.

We don't use a "service" -- just a cleaning person, with whom we have a one-on-one relationship. She comes once every two weeks, and does all the stuff I hate to do, like scrubbing the toilets, vacuuming, and mopping the floors. We have a 3 BR, 2.5 bathroom house, and we pay $60 each time. I know some people and/or services charge by the hour, but we just pay a flat fee and she stays as long as it takes -- sometimes it's longer, sometimes it's shorter.

I don't know what I'd do without her!!!

I also have a cleaning lady, I used to use a service, but I prefer the one on one relationship I have now. She comes in once a week, and cleans the house top to bottom. Bathrooms (3), bedrooms(4), kitchen, etc. I pay her $65 per week.

Same as StampMom and Lori -- we have a cleaning person (actually, it's a couple that work together) that comes to our house about once every two weeks and cleans everything fairly well for $60 a cleaning. :)

That's what I do....my own cleaning service and I charge by the hour...PM if you'd like specifics. Depending on where you live I would ask friends and neighbors for recommendations. Word of mouth tends to be the best judgement.

Merry maids in town X might be wonderful but in your town could be a little less then steller.

My family has a cleaning service that comes in twice a month to do all the heavy cleaning. We pay $60 each time they come. We live in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house. It actually started out as a husband and wife team, but they expanded and now have several employees. My mom considers it well worth the money.
