Does anyone go to MVMCP just for the rides?

My fiance and I are counting the days until our honeymoon Nov. 7-21! We will be staying off-site, and are undecided between 6 vs 7 day MYW tickets. We are considering getting 6 day tickets and then plan an evening at MVMCP as the 7th day. That being said, we're not that into character greets, shows or parades and my fiance is not a big christmas fan We are VERY interested however in a potentially very rare opportunity to ride our favorites with low crowds. Nighttime park hours are also very limited during our visit, and all the nights MK is open past 7-8pm are 'not recommended' parks on those days. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Also, if we do this, what party nights are usually the slowest? Earlier the better?

All rides were walk on except Mine Train - it was an easy breezy day and if that's your only reason enjoy then you'll certainly get your money worth

Although we haven't been to MVMCP (or MNSSHP) in a few years, yes people do go just for the attractions. Its a good opportunity to hit the attractions with much shorter wait times. I'd just suggest making sure you catch one of the parades, preferably the later one, and the fireworks.

We did that last year. We went just for the weekend...did MVMCP on Friday night and the FW the next day. It was great! No waits and cheaper than buying a one day ticket to the MK.

Oops! you asked about MVMCP. Same thing could apply. We like the XMAS parade when we go to the Xmas party.

It's a good plan, but I'd go earlier in your trip. Getting to ride lots of things early in your trip will make things easier on repeat visits later in the week. I'm assuming this is your first visit. If so, the 4pm arrival time (when the park is still busy) will give you time to gawk at main street and take pictures - no need to hurry and rush. Then when the party starts, you can start at one land and ride your way around the park.

Then, on later visits to MK that week, you can focus on favorites (use FP+) and lesser attractions and shows. I know you say you aren't show people, but Disney does them very well and you will need a break now and then.

That's us! We aren't huge fans of the stage shows and our DS8's interest in characters has waned now that he knows they are just people in costumes. We do enjoy the MVMCP parade, but having seen it several times we'll probably skip it this year...depending how you feel about parades and holiday fun, you might want to catch the late one.

Ultimately, you are getting a solid five hours in the park at a discounted rate vs. the day ticket with guaranteed low waits (mostly walk ons). Very much worth it in my opinion and, if you want to catch some of the attractions that are closed during the party (which are only a few), remember that you can arrive in the late afternoon and get in with your party ticket, which will give you a few hours to catch those attractions (which likely will have low waits because they aren't the most popular).

I think you will be pleased. Mine train will still have a long wait, but everything else will be little wait times. You will be able to get a lot of rides in especially if you don't want to watch the parade and stage shows. However, I strongly suggest the parade. It's fantastic!

We usually go to multiple parties so that one of them can be enjoying all of the rides multiple times.

We went just for the rides (and fireworks) last December. It got rained out, so didn't get the fireworks, but between the crowds hovering around the characters instead and the rain, the rides were walk-on except the Dwarves. At one point, we were literally the only people in Space Mountain coming or going. It was still a good choice for us since we only had a half-day no matter what to spend in MK, so getting a party tix for cheaper than a full day price and with less crowds made it so much easier to hit everything we wanted to. Add in the freebie cookies and hot chocolate on a rainy night, it was actually pretty fun.

We did this last Nov, on the Friday night before Thanksgiving. That was our Harry Potter Pilgrimage, but we wanted to spend some time at MK. I just couldn't justify the cost of a full one-day MK ticket when we would not be able to arrive at rope drop, so we did the party instead.

I had FP+ booked for three rides between about 4 and 7 pm. We were allowed in just a little before 4, and the park was crowded. We didn't do much other than our FPs and eat a snack between 4 and 7. But after 7, the park really cleared out. We rode Splash Mountain multiple times with no wait (one time we didn't even have to get out of the log!) and Big Thunder Mountain with a minimal wait. We did a few other rides as well, but no character meet and greets. We did not go to Tomorrowland, but the only ride we observed that still had a pretty long line was Peter Pan.

We did watch the fireworks and the parade. If I had it to do all over again, I would probably skip the parade. It was cute, but it involved a lot of standing and waiting. We got a spot along Main St for the second parade, right after the fireworks. There was a pretty big gap in timing between the two. We probably should have just done more rides and attractions instead.

DS and fiance are going on their honeymoon Nov. 10-17 (same time as you, OP) (They are getting married this coming Sunday)! They are letting me do most of the preliminary planning since she has never been to WDW. We got them 5 day MYW regular passes and a one day U/IoA hopper, so they will not be doing an extra ticketed event . I'm thinking they should go to MK on a day with the party that night, since the crowds are predicted lower, but that does mean missing the fireworks. They will have the 5th day ticket to choose a park to repeat, so they could use it to go to MK on a night without a party on their last night. But they live near and frequent Disneyland, so I'm thinking she may want to use the repeat day to go back to Epcot.

I just want to say that I am not big on parades either, but the MVMCP parade is AMAZING! I think I would go just for that. Lol.
