It used to be the WDW flagship for Nuevo Latino cuisine. But, as with most things at WDW, they found out people don't want interesting and exciting cuisine -- they want Appleby's. Also, CSR is a convention hotel and conventioneers want steak when they're on an expense account. So, now it's a steak and chops house just like a million others.
We loved, loved, loved it when it opened. Now, the only trace of the original restaurant is found in some of the appetizers and desserts. So, when we go, we order a variety of appetizers and a couple of desserts. We don't bother with the entrees, which are things like "mixed grill". We've enjoyed it when we do that. They also have delicious margaritas.
The restaurant itself is quite pretty, tables are nicely spaced and it usually isn't jam-packed -- all of which are major plusses at WDW where even the $50 per person restaurants make me feel like I'm squished into a tiny plastic table at McDonald's during lunch hour.
The resort is gorgeous at night as well, so after dinner we walk around the lake and enjoy just how pretty CSR is.
We have never had breakfast at Maya Grill, but we hate buffets so it's never appealed to us.
