DD and I leave the 9th. First time onsite, first time taking 10 days. I want everything to be perfect for her, I want us to really bond. I'm having panic that I didn't plan enough. I didn't plan any ADRs, she eats like a bird. Maybe I should have. I didn't plan any special packages like Wishes dessert party or whatever that is. Ack! I'm freaking myself out! this is definitely a first world problem, I feel guilty even expressing it, lol but is anyone else like this? you spend so much money, you just want a great trip

:hyper:I'm the same but with much more experience. I leave the 16th and this is major crunch time! However....you have 10 days, which is a blessing. Much less pressure. In 10 days you can do whatever you want, multiple times.

ADRs is really something you SHOULD DO. it's not too late if you are flexible. Ok she eats like a bird, but think of her favorite stuff and try to get the best fits. There is everything to choose from. You can't imagine. And sit down dining is much better than quick service. you deserve a vacation too.
More important than anything is FP+. If you don't do this then it can be a long 10 days. Don't sweat the dessert party or anything like that. Not worth it and it can cost extra. Make sure you hit wishes at MK. if that doesn't get her, nothing will. I tear up just thinking of the music alone.

it will be fine. 10 days. beautiful. Make some plans, even loose ones. And in your room, listen to must-do staci. She's on like every channel.

I get a little nervous the night before and can't sleep. I am usually up way too early and take the morning flight. Next trip my morning flight is at 6am so I am going to be tired:thumbsup2

The very first time we went to Disney, my mother had never been out of the state before. She was scared over traveling back then, but nowadays it's home away from home. Her anxiety these days is always about flying.

My anxiety is 1). leaving the pets to a family member's care and 2). flying, and 3). germs on the plane/getting ill.

That last one is a biggie for me. (During my last trip I became sick at the parks. The cough that I had along with it lasted 3 months  . If not for the germs, I'd probably travel a lot more).

I have all the FPs and which park on which day planned. We are going to BOG for lunch so that will be a treat. This weekend I'm going to sit down and look at dining options and maybe find one she;ll like. She liked the one in HS where the waitresses are your mom. I'm gonna pack this weekend, too. I finally think we've bought everything we need. Except the chocolate. That disappeared :confused3

RELAX. You are going to Disney World for 10 days. It will be FINE. Seriously, try not to stress. Your DD will sense your stress and will worry that she's not acting like everything is marvelous enough, and that'll ratchet up her stress level. Don't worry about not having made plans for all the over-priced extras. That's just hype. You can have an absolutely wonderful time at Disney just going to the parks each day, spending time at your pool, going to evening shows or doing Disney Freebies like the Boardwalk, Electric Water Pageant, and Downtown Disney.

Remember that your DD might not be a park commando. We had tickets for every day we were there, but I had to adjust my expectations when DD and I went for 10 days in august, when she was 17. It was too hot to be in the parks all the time. We ended up sleeping in every day, spending time at the pool, and going into the parks in the later day, staying until closing. This was easier to do pre-FP+ days, as we changed our entire itinerary mid-trip, but it can still be done. There were days we didn't even go into the park until supper time, then did the evening stuff only. I guess what I am saying is RELAX and play it by ear.

Stop pressuring yourself to make this the most amazing, incredible, wonderful trip ever. Let your days play out by themselves, without uber-planning and running, running, running to the next thing to do. Remind yourself: You and your DD are spending 10 days together in the most magical place on earth. Just let it all go, and have a wonderful time!

Try not to stress too much, it will be great no matter what meals you eat or what extras you chose to do. I will honestly say our last trip was the first one where we did no extras, no parties, no sit down meals, just the basics. Amazingly it was the best trip we ever had. We just had so much more time to take things in and enjoy ourselves. As long as you have your fastpasses scheduled you should be fine.

I always have anxiety about the flight. Not that I'm afraid to fly (quite the opposite, in fact), I'm just afraid I'm going to sleep through my alarm (or forget to set it) and miss the plane. (I always take an early morning flight so I have to get up ridiculously early.)

I have major anxiety this time. With all of the problems with magic bands, and FP+ I am worried that everything will get messed up. I am reading to many threads in which people say their magic bands don't work and others saying that all of the FP+ have disappeared from MDE.

I wouldn't worry at all with a ten-day trip! More time definitely equals less stress in my book :)

You will have plenty of time to get to everything you want to and lots of time in between for things you haven't even thought of yet.

Yes, there are a great many of people who have felt or are feeling like this. I have been one.

I'll tell you about my trip way back when my son (now grown and a father of two) was in high school. I searched and researched and make out a detailed plan of what we were going to do and when we were going to do it (my son called it "the five minute plan"), I made up index cards to carry with me, I had EVERYTHING organized, dining arraignments, everything.

Our first day, we walked into Epcot and I controlled everything. I said where we would go, when we would go and even inside the attraction, where we would sit.

Halfway through the day, my son and husband wanted to go back to the room. I tossed the cards and we just went on our way for the rest of the trip (also ten days). Fantastic time.

I think of it this way - you know what you want to do and you know how to do it. But, every day is an adventure, so live it, love it, enjoy it. If it's in your plans, fine, but if it's not, what else is out there? I did that on one trip when Flights of Wonder was starting in less than two minutes so, since I hadn't seen it, I went in. Now it's a can't miss and a nice relaxation time.

Enjoy your trip with your daughter. But every once in a while, take a step back and enjoy it more. Do something unexpected. The time you sped with your daughter won't be wasted, it can be improved.

I start having weird dreams a few weeks before every trip. My family thinks it's hilarious. In one dream MK was a huge cornfield and all day we rode down a giant slide on paper grocery sacks.

Life is not perfect. Your vacation will not be perfect--to expect such is to set yourself up for frustration, disappointment and tears. What your DD wants is TIME with you and your attention.

SLOW DOWN.

ENJOY the vacation.

Sit and each ice cream.

Play in the pool.

Laugh when she laughs.

Hug Often.

Life is about so much more than planning the *perfect* vacation.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!!! :rotfl2:

I made everyone MISERABLE.

'Tis funny now......

YES! I get anxiety over it too...but it's more the anticipation of it all. I know we're going to have a great time. ADRs are set, FP selections are made, now I have to start the packing. And I'm so worried about us making it the next 9 days healthy and happy! It's awful! All I can do is hope and pray, make my kids wash their hands, and have us all take our vitamins!

Don't stress some stuff though-you will have a blast! It's going to be an amazing trip!

this is exactly what I needed to hear, especially hug often. I'm a hospice nurse, I know to stop and smell the roses, enjoy every minute with your family, life is short. I think I got so wrapped up in all the possible planning you can do that I was making myself crazy. I should just be glad that my 15 yr DD still wants to do stuff with me without brining a friend. I have her all to myself and I'm going to love every minute of it. I can't wait!

I get horrible anxiety attacks every time I plan a trip to Disney. I call it "Disney anxiety". I get pretty bad. If I dont find something else to keep my mind busy I will get pretty bad. I have spent over 36 hrs. awake because of this feeling. My trip is next Christmas and I'm going crazy over it.
