Does anyone get tired of WDW?

I just sent in two listing sheets for contracts that I will be selling. We are scheduled for a Sept-Oct trip to WDW this Fall and we also have another visit scheduled in January. When I suggested that we cancel the January trip, I was surprised that my wife enthusiastically agreed. I think maybe we were getting into a very expensive rut because of the DVC.

P.S. after I sell these two contracts I will still have 410 points left.

MShe says she can spend time on the beach at the Poly or BCV. Why go see the real thing? There are no sharks at the Poly or BCV beaches. :rotfl:
Hmmmmm.....gators or sharks? :scared1: Oh well, that's another thread! Was just looking at some pics of gators posted by people at WDW. Have gators on the brain!

:worship: 410 points after your sales? Need a friend? Pick me, pick me! :yay:

My family getting tired of WDW would be like getting tired of air!!!!:lmao:

My 12 yo lost count after 40 trips and my 2 yo has been 5 times and my newborn will go Sept and Oct.

Its true its all how you do it, we are going for a short stay at AKV in Sept and only doing parties at night and relaxing at pool and shopping during the day. (MNSSHP on Friday night) ( Expediton Everest Challange party on Sat.) relax the rest of the weekend.

head back two weeks later for a full blown out WDW vacation with friends joining us, a chance to give to our family and friends...cook out by the pool and do so many things that others do not think of when they think Disney, open up your DH's mind with things other than the parks. My DH loves the grill and blender...LOL:lmao:

Best of luck to you!!

I think spacing out our WDW trips with a trip to VB (which we loved!) and HH work for us so far (we are empty-nesters, also). I'm also encouraged by some of the positive reports from people who trade out-we have a 2009 trip to WDW planned, but then I think we'll do some research and trade out with our 2010 points. We hope to take grandchildren one day, but that's at least 5 years down the road. My daughter (who loves WDW) has said no WDW trips until no longer in diapers and/or strollers!

We go at least twice a year. Once with DW and I only, the other trip with friends and/or family. Different resorts, different times of year ( but always for the Food and Wine Festival). Every other year we do a point blowout and take all the kids, grand kids and sometimes close friends too. Last year there was 12 of us at BCV in a studio and 2 bdr. A couple years back it was a 2bdr and 2 studios. All of our children are adults now and have yet turned us down on a offer to go to see Mickey. Our youngest (now 23) even did trips to WDW renting points as her spring break trips at college. We try to not treat our visits as trips to a theme park resort, but trips to our vacation home. Everybody does what they want because, hey, your on your vacation!

DH and I went a couple times by ourselves before buying DVC, then we added points when I was 6 weeks PG. DS has been a few times all ready and I think it's just going to get better now that #2 will be here in Dec. We'll switch up resorts, time of year, and even locations. I'd like to try HHI soon.

I don't see any of us getting bored with it for a long time.

I have been 30+ times and I'm only 32 years old :) My wife and I love it there, it's the only place we have been to where you just get lost in the experience.

Why I'm not "getting tired of WDW,"

1. Disney World is always changing. Take a look at classics like the Haunted House or Pirates and new attractions like Toy Story Mania or Soarin'.

2. Stop and explore. Look for the details. When you "think" you know this place, Disney shakes things up.

3. Bus drivers. Not only do they take me to my favorite places, they are the best source of "inside" information on WDW.

4. Cast members....making magic in small and big ways every day.

5. Figuring out what I want for dinner 180 days in advance!

6. DVC resorts.....I'm home, again!

My son has gone to WDW at least every other year from the time he was 7 until he was 20. He never got tired of it. There are so many different things to do at WDW for different age groups that it was like a different vacation each time we returned.
- at age 7 he loved MK, the Muppet Show and characters
- by 10 my little geek would spend a whole day at Innoventions in Epcot if we would let him
- by 14 thru 16 the World Showcase was a favorite; he would prowl the exhibits and shops by the hour
- at 18 he still did parks, but also truly enjoyed hanging out at the pools
- at 19 he slept in pretty late but loved evening EMH for doing the parks at night. One night he and his buddy were literally the last 2 out of MK and a CM treated them to a van ride back to BWV
- at 20 he stopped going with us (with much grumbling) as college schedules and jobs put a stop to vacations for him
- at 25, with his new little family we are now planning when it will be the right time to take his 1 year old son to WDW. I predict it will again be a different place when seen through his son's eyes.

It's a different place for them at different ages. Heck it's been a different place for me when I go at different times of the year. I think you have nothing to worry about

OMG! I could cry. Your reply could totally be made into a commercial for a timeless WDW. I am such a visual person and your description is exactly why we bought into DVC.

Excellent! Plus the fun of reliving all the family memories everywhere we go and the more we go, the more fun and funny things to remember! We do try new things every time and some old favorites. I'm glad we don't have a downer in the family, sorry you're strugging with him.

Just tell him to wait and see how it goes! Keep it fun for the kids and don't let any negativity influence them! The magic is still going in our families, 3 generations strong!

DH loves WDW as much as I do, but is not as intent upon going as much as possible, so I go with friends when he doesn't want to take the trip. Usually that means I travel there for one or more long weekends a year, besides the annual family trip. We usually take one of the kids friends with us on the annual trip, it makes it that much more special for our kids. They are going into their second year of college now, not so much kids anymore, but they still really look forward to our trips. We have one planned for this January (the only time both are home for a school break at the same time), and they are both very excited.

I love it, love it, love it! Never grow tired of it. There are SO many things to do, and lots of ways to relax. My DH agrees, and my friends love going "just the girls", so it's working out great for all of us.....especially me :)

I don't think I could get tired of Disney, but I have been "slightly winded." I spent the first 28 years of my life going once every ten years, and then the next six years going once a year. Last October, when I came back from my fifth trip in two years, I decided that I needed a bigger gap between visits in order to keep Disney as my special escape, and not just where I go when I'm not in Michigan.

On the other hand, that was almost ten months ago and the space between trips is now excruciating! I'm heading to Ft. Wilderness/OKW for an eight night trip with my parents, and October 22nd can't get here fast enough.

At one point, DH and I both said we were a little tired of it, but that was ONLY because we had been trying to have kids (unsuccessfully), and being in WDW with all those kids was a little bit of torture....

Then, the next year we went with Dsis and her kids (and BIL) and had a BLAST!! WDW is now fun again, 'cause we can borrow my Dnephew and Dniece. We went last year together, and will be going this year AND next year together as well. That'll work for us 'til we're successfull in getting PG or we adopt, and have our own kiddos to brainwash into the Disney Way!

I've been doing Disney since it opened. In the beginning w/ my parents and now w/ my own children, friends and family. We love Epcot, AK,MK & DHS in that order. We really love TL and BB in the SUmmer. As the boys got older we found an appreciation for DQ. Beyond all of those reasons we love OKW at Disney, we can go there as a family and not even do the parks but still be part of that warm Disney feeling. We love VB and hope to grow to love HH (if I can ever get in there when I want, 7 month window is tough) We no longer approach the parks commando style, with the resorts, it's so much better and easier than in the old days. I've threads read about retirees who come and spend their points even w/ out the kids, I think that's fabulous. I don't ever foresee getting tired of WDW and all that it encompasses. With that said, I vacation elsewhere too! Too little money and not enough vacation time!

My son (and the kids of my dvc friends) grew up going to WDW frequently, with multiple trips every year. For a couple years in the early teens my son was rather ho-hum about it, but that's no big deal. He was old enough that we could separate - he'd spend 10-12 hours inside DisneyQuest and I'd do other stuff. A friend of mine who's son is now 16 flat out refuses to go on her WDW trips any more. She left him home last time (as she should - he's old enough, and why pay for a grump <g> who eats like a horse). Most likely he'll come around - my son loves it again now that he's 21 and has a girlfriend he can impress with his Disney knowledge and *my* dvc studios they don't have to pay for ;-)

As for me - I don't tire of WDW, but I sometimes tire of the whole rush to the parks to avoid the crowds thing. I don't spend much time in the parks, but I still love my trips. Many years ago, I'd be in the parks from opening until closing, but not anymore! I like the resorts and relaxation far more than any attraction in the theme parks. DVC works very well for me as a nice place to escape the pressures of real life. My last trip included no parks at all - just the resort, dining out, laying by the pool, and Comedy Warehouse at night.

Are you the same Sue who used to write great trip reports on that 'other' board? Comedy Warehouse was the tipoff for me.

WEe have gone 7 times since 2000. We will be at trip #8 in August and trip #9 in October. :woohoo: My kids are now 18 and 16, although they do have developmental disabilities, so they are still "childlike". Anyway, my DH was the grump who said he would tire of WDW. Now, he is the one talking to everybody about how joining DVC was the best thing he ever did and how much fun he has every time. I must say that now that we have DVC and an annual pass, it seems that when we go, we are more laid back than when we bought Park Hoppers. We try and see new things every time and try a different character meal. :cool2:

We purchased DVC after son was out of college and on his own. We use it as our retirement home as a place to get away especially during the cold winter months. We have annual passes, but do not tire ourselves out in the parks. We enjoy the resorts.:cool1:
