Does Anyone Feel Embarrassed?

I was just wondering if when you say to people "I'm going on vacation in June!/July!/August!/September! (whenever you're going)" and they say "Oh really, where to?" If you don't have any young kids, do you feel a little embarrassed saying "Walt Disney World!" ? I'm 21 and my mom and I are going in July during her birthday week, and don't get me wrong, I LOOOOVE Disney, I have a Crush turtle stuffed animal and a Snow White pin in my car, and I don't mind talking about what I love about Disney, but for some reason, sometimes I feel a little awkward telling people I'm going there at age 21. I mean, part of me thinks "I don't care what they think, I love WDW and I can't wait to go!" but I don't want people to think I'm weird for going without little kids or a BF/DH yet. Anyone else feel this way?

Yeah, that's usually the reaction I get. Friends tend to say "Oh, cool!" but family are usually more like "Why are you going THERE again? I mean, isn't it a little immature for you?" That upsets me.

I have been to all the Orlando theme parks so many times over the years that I probably should be embarrassed. "Your going back AGAIN??? There are other places to take a vacation , you know!!!" Yeah, I know. And I visit other places too. I'm just drawn back to Orlando time and time (and time) again. I've been as a kid, a teen, a young adult, a single adult, a married adult, and a parent. There is no wrong age or phase to do Disney in my book.

Now, ask me if I was embarrassed to see "kid movies" when I was a single adult with no children of my own. I used to beg friends with kids to let me take their children to the movies just so I didn't have to walk up to the ticket counter and say, "One adult for Toy Story, please."

I'm 20 and i'm goin with my mom this year and it will be just the two of us...but to me it doesn't matter what people think cause hello she's my mom and i love her to death and besides that I LOVE DISNEY WORLD too...i dont feel emabrassed actually alot of my friends think its pretty cool that mother and son are gonna get to go on a awesome vacation and spend time "bonding" LOL and we're finally stayin on WDW property and eating at every restuarant LOL but you know its just us so why not spend more money

These people just have no idea what they are missing....and you should tell them that. That's what I do!

I just got back two weeks ago and I've already started counting down til my
next trip! -- 349 more days! and it will be for my 43rd birthday!

And believe me....I couldn't care LESS what anyone thinks about it.

Alot of people do say to me..."Don't you want to go somewhere different?"
and I just simply say "Nope."

NEVER - been going to WDW since 1972.

some people are jealous -they think that WDW is more expensive than other vacations - just because it is WDW.

It isn't that expensive when you compare it to others.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I'm not the only young adult who loves to go, and I plan on going many many more times, especially once I have a family of my own! I know I'll be one of those moms who's like "Kids, we're going to WALT DISNEY WORLD AGAIN!" and they groan and say "Aw mom, AGAIN?" Haha, oh well!

Not at all. And when they say "You're going AGAIN?!" I reply with a simple, "Yup." Oh, and a smile that I hope looks like I'm keeping some really special secret.

Not embarrassed at all! I guess I'm lucky that my family are all Disney freaks (except for my inlaws, but even they don't think it's strange) and all of my friends think it's cool. I am a shameless Disney freak (a new friend commented on all the Mickey stuff in my car the other day ), so my choice of vacation shouldn't surprise anyone.

Besides, I don't rip on people going to Aruba again... why should anyone care I'm going to Orlando or Anaheim again?

Great point! I think it's really unfair that people judge others for wanting to go to WDW or DL, but they do. From now on I'll be way more proud about it on the outside to others!

Oh my family thinks I'm nuts for always wanting to go to Disney with DBF and his family. My family likes to tell me that it hasnt changed, and I should get sick of seeing the same thing over and over. I like to remind them that the last time they went was in 1993, and in fact, yes it has changed. Heck, it has changed since I've last been there in 2005. Some people dont understand! Good thing DBF does and we have agreed to a Disney Honeymoon when the time comes. My family will love that one!

Awww, that's awesome! The last 2 trips - this will be the 3rd - have just been my mom and I. My dad passed away 3 years ago and the 3 of us had gone 4 times as a family. Her and I do it to commemorate him because he loved it so much - he was always very "Disney" while we were there. He made goofy poses on ride photographs and got all excited for my sake (I'm an only child, btw) when characters would come over. I'm soooo glad people are proud Disney addicts!
