does anyone ever bring there satalite from home?

My bil has brought his. It usually takes him a while to find the right place, but he always does. I have seen many others out there fighting with the placement of the dish. BTW his has direct TV.

Yep, we always bring our dish.(direct tv) We bought a separate dish that stays in our rv full time. We do bring the receiver from the house however. I'm technically challenged ......my husband has some kind of "instrument" that will locate the proper position for the dish. Seems like it was inexpensive to purchase and saves lots of time "hunting" for the correct angle on the dish.

we brought ours, it also stays in the tt, and I got a signal right away. we were in the 800 loop at the front. I couldnt believe I got it. but anyway I would bring it.

When we bought our new trailer in '06, we had a manual point one installed on the roof. We have been able to get a signal with it 85% of the time. I have one in the storage compartment that I have never used. We borrow a receiver from my dad for camping trips, we have cable.

we also have an extra dish for the fort. If you don't purchase a signal meter use a compass. After making sure the dish is level and straight, point the dish to 221 degrees.

we have the kingdome on board, but with so many trees at the fort, we always carry the spare down below...

BEV does work at FW and if you do a google search you can find the directions for setting up your dish in Florida I have the info at home but I am at work.

I have Dishnetwork and bring our dish on occasion to state parks in Indiana and Michigan. When I goto Disney next June, I was not planning on it because I thought the campsites had cable connection. What is the channel line up for the cable? I don't think I would be at the campsite enough to want to dink around with the satellite dish since there is already cable. Even if a storm comes, what cable might be there would probably be enough for me unless it is only 3 stations, all infomercials.

Ditto. We have a roof mounted dish & have a portable - just in case. We did have one instance where a certain drunken brother of mine slightly moved the portable dish and we lost the signal. My DH went nuts trying to figure it out until same drunken brother confessed.

We've had DirecTV since the early 1990's and since then have never left home camping without it. We take the receiver from home and have a second dish for the TT.

We always have a couple of hours of down time after lunch both at WDW and at home and like to watch movies that the DW tapes on the VCR during the night ... mostly TCM and CHILLER now. We're now on a quest to see every Alfred Hitchock series episode ever made and are about 90% there as best as I can determine. We've seen around 140 of the 170 or so ever made ... can't remember the exact numbers, but we keep a list so we don't repeat things much except for some of the classics like "Arsinec and Old Lace" with Cary Grant and just watch again the Lucy movies the "Long, Long Trailer". Talk about overloaded with her "ROCK COLLECTION" and trying to cook in the trailer while it was moving ... TOO FUNNY.

thanks everyone, we have a second dish in our trailer, but I wasnt sure if it would be possible to grt a signal in the fort, maybe trees in the way or something.

Bring mine all the time. I set up for both Bell and Dish. You have to know where you want to stay as some of the sites will have too many trees. I've had great success in the 1600 and 1300 loops, 1100 not so much - weak signal because of trees, but again, it depends on the site.

We always take our dish with us. We don't watch a whole lot of tv. But, it is there if we want it. Florida rains can keep you in.

We also bring extra cable along. We normally have family next to us. So, we hook them up to us right away .

This year we have the in motion one on the seneca. We don't know if the one on the camper will pick anything up. So, we will bring our dish with.

one thing we also bring that is fun is a fm radio repeater, that way we can also have a running tv outside the camper if the weather is nice...we used it at the labor day gg (although the reception was so so because of the weather and golf carts and people parking in front of the line of sight) but all in all got the job done...clkelley's dh got to watch his football game off and on and we had a ball...

the tv was set up at the next campsite to ours and ran off our satellite dish...just a thought to share

How does a FM repeater work? I guess what I'm really asking is how does it hook to your sat inside the camper?
