My best friend and I, who are both Disney obsessed, have had this same conversation many times. People who say those things just don't understand how magical Disneyland or Disney is and I say if it makes us happy to go every month than what business is it of theirs. Now of course my bank account doesn't allow me to go every month, but I sure would if I could!!!
That's what I love about this message board...you guys all understand what it's like to leave Disneyland and start planning the next trip an hour after getting home!!
"I have to go to DL often to recovery from the misery of working with you cranky people!"
Everyone who matters doesn't hassle me, because I've helped every single one of them with travel plans in the past. Everyone who doesn't matter only shows their jealousy once... I've got a boatload of one-liners you can deliver with a smile...

This made me laugh because I do work with a bunch of cranky people who take life WAY to seriously!!! All I know is that the more you seem to be happy the more you p** them off because they want you to be unhappy just like they are!!! It really is sad for them!
I totally agree with PattyPB. I'm lucky to work with wonderful people who usually come to me with their Disney questions and advice for travel. When I say "I'm on vacation next week/weekend" whatever.....I always hear in "She's going to Disneyland!" which is true MOST of the time!!
It's my "happy place" as I'm sure it is for most of you. When life gets you down, I can't think of a more appropriate place to go. I feel safe there unlike some other amusement parks. I can't remember the last time I went to another amusement park!
I just admit to my office co-workers that I'm a Disney nut. I grew up going to DL as we lived close by. My parents went when it first opened I think 1957, I have pictures of me and my brothers in the park fro the late 60's. I am one of three brothers who used to play on TSI for hours. Disney attracks all kinds, to prove my point I am 42 year old man, retired military and a fire fighter, very manly man and I haven't grown up yet. In fact neither have my brothers, after retireing from the military I have moved back to California and my brothers and I all are AP holders.
I think it's best to always have a little kid in you. I think that EVERYONE these days takes life a little to seriously and often forget what really matters and I often to too, but I really try to sit back and think about just how lucky I TRULY am and the life I have been given considering the type of childhood I had. I have made the choice to live my life to the fullest and try not to stress to much which is pretty hard, giving the job that I have. Hope all of you that have replied, always have the magic of Disneyland in your heart and no matter what anyone says or thinks DO WHAT MAKES YOU TRULY HAPPY!!!

The best response I read was from Dear Abby -- she said to just look at someone and say "why would you say such a thing?". That will pretty much end the conversation
I use this one when appropriate. If it's a really pushy question, "I fail to see how that can possibly be your business" is useful. (Like the woman who asked my my ex husband and I split up. I mean, really!)
Seriously, what kind of bitter person gets snotty about someone else's vacation? Not someone worth socializing with.
I work with a lot of women who either hate Disneyland or think I'm inmature for going to Disneyland during Christmas time. Now!!!! I want to know, why the h*ll do they care so much and want to offer their opinion to me when I don't give a rats *** when I don't ask for it!!!! I don't even talk to them about anything Disneyland anymore because all I get are snide remarks. Today I was in the kitchen at work and one of the girls said real snotty, "Why don't you go to Hawaii or Vegas for Christmas? Disneyland is for children" I looked at her and said because it's the happiest place on earth. I then asked her "why do you go to Vegas so much??" This girl looked at me and walked away. It made me so mad Okay, I feel better. I just needed to vent. Why do people need to me soooo negative Life so to short, why be negative? Enjoy the things and people who make you happy!!!!
I agree with you all the way. The day I lose my Love for Disneyland...will be a sad day indeed. It would mean something has changed in me...and not for the better.
But I don't see that happening anytime soon!
