Does anyone else try to 'lose before the cruise?'

First of all, if any of you are interested in an encouragement group for your healthy eating programs, come on over to the WISH board. It's in the just for fun section on the main boards page, and we have a very supportive group!

I am trying to lose weight, but not specifically for the cruise. Mainly because I've just had the 5 pound per year creep up that most people do and it's gotten to be more than I'd like.

On our 2 cruises, I didn't really gain weight. I also took the stairs nearly everywhere we went. As for food, at the main meals, I usually just ate 1/2 of what was on the plate (except desserts! I ate all of them!). I used the workout room a couple of times, and walked deck 4 several other times.

Good luck to all of you whatever you choose to do about weight loss.

I'll second Lisa (we do that a lot in chat as well) :D

The WISH board is a great place for anyone looking to lose weight or just get healthier.

I have never really gained on the cruises either. I do so much more walking on the cruise than I get in a normal day. We take the stairs a lot, walk around the beautiful ship, not to mention all the walking in the ports and on excursions.

I, like others, have some leftover "holiday" fat; I'm not overweight just have some flabbiness I want to get rid of before I think about putting on my swim suit!

So, I started doing the slimfast thing - 2 shakes a day + a meal. I've got a few months til my ****** (5/1) and so if I don't do this routine religiously, I'll be OK.

But anyway, my slimfast tip is this: If you have a Target nearby, their version tastes EXACTLY the same, same nutrients, but $2 cheaper!! And those of us who drink the stuff, know how EXPENSIVE it can be!

Anyway, just my 2 cents!

Here's an even cheaper Slimfast version: A glass of skim chocolate milk and a multi-vitamin. Seriously, that's all it is -- read the labels. It's not a particularly healthful choice.

However, *MY* main reasons for drinking the stuff are 1) tastes halfway decent; and 2) makes me feel full - curbs my appetite.

If choc skim milk + a multivitamin did that, it would probably be a different story!! lol...

But you're right - there are other ways to get the nutrients!!

:bounce: :)

I am not cruising until May 2005, but Hubby and I both started dieting in January. I have tried all sorts of diets, but this time we tried the Atkins diet. Man is it working. I am eating healthier (no junk) and excercising because I have more energy. Cut out all of my diet pepsi's. So far we have both lost 18 pounds. Only 35 more to go....Can't wait till May 2005.
