Does anyone else NOT think Paris Hilton is pretty?

Women ragging on other women can be so amusing.

Does this mean you all have your own "burn books" too? ;)

Oh believe me, I'm so much harder on myself than I am on some celebrity I don't know. :)

I don't think that Paris is too bad, but if you compare her to someone like Jessica Simpson, I think Jessica would come out the winner. Jessica seems more sure of her selfish and she seems like a happier person. Paris seems to have some issues with image and self-confidence.:D

Well, I must be an equal opportunity ragger because I can think of several male celebrities who I don't think are all that good looking, or talented, or whatever. Its more a matter of personal taste though rather than "jealousy" or "ragging"........

Obviously women talking about males celebreties in any way would be different than what I'm seeing here. But it's fun to read and it's reminding me of that great teen comedy "Mean Girls"

Really? Why do you think that? What would be the difference between this thread and one where women were talking about a male celebrity? I mean, most people would agree Paris Hilton has rather unconventional looks, at best. I don't think its odd that women and men are talking about those unconventional looks -- its pretty much what she is known for as far as I can see. She never met a camera she didn't pose for, so in my mind, she wants the public to judge her for her image. She doesn't appear to have any specific talent that I can see, so what else would people talk about when they see her? Not sure how that equates to "Mean Girls", but its interesting that you see it like that. :)

It's interesting that you are defending yourself to this extreme despite my never singling you or anybody else out.

As for the gender commenting on gender issue, if the difference isn't obvious then I suggest reading up on the subject. Reading the book "Mean Girls" was based on would be a good start.

LOL! I didn't say you singled me out, I just found it curious that you likened this discussion to a burn book. I didn't read the book, Mean Girls, but did see the movie, and didn't see the resemblence of it on this thread, thats all. I have seen that movie played out on the DIS and its various spin off sites ocassionally, but here on this thread, I just didn't see it. No biggie, though, carry on. :)

Really... even after the OP editing her post because her comment wasn't taken too well.

Maybe you have all the posters on ignore who commeted on her body parts.

Hmmm, well I didn't realize that the original post was altered. Still, I see a difference between commenting on a celebrity who is famous for the way she looks, and teenage girls writing mean stuff about each other in "burn books".

In any case, as I said earlier, I think Paris is attractive, certainly interesting looking, but not really movie star quality. I do think she must have the "it" factor going on, since so many people are interested in her when she doesn't really seem to DO anything.

I am the OP and I changed my OP because after reading some of the responses I realized that it wasn't so much that she is "ugly" just that I don't understand what is so great about her.

It had nothing at all to do with how people took my comment so please, don't attempt to read my mind.

Thank you. Carry on.

If a man became famous for, well, nothing, and was odd looking, I would probably wonder when his 15 minutes would be up also.

As far as "Mean Girls", there are bullies in both genders. Boys get bullied by boys as much as girls do by girls. It's just that for years, people ignored it in the female population.

Plus girls are more vocal as you can see just by the make up of the CB. Plus they like to write out their thoughts.

Guys think nasty thoughts about other guys. You just don't see threads about it....

ETA: ....or books.

IMO Paris differs because she did not make herself the star she has become, the media did. The tabloid media decided she was coverage worthy and the rest is history. Of course "the tape" didn't hurt, but pictures of her in various states of undress were being published long before the tape. She is rich, not at all shy, and some what good looking. A perfect 10 for the media.

IMO it would be accurate to say that of the people that are better than average looks wise, she is the most willing to give it up no matter what 'it" is, which translates to the beginning and end of her talent and fame.
