Does anyone else here think that Saddam is dead?

The question I have is if he is indeed dead wouldn't the Iraqis have made that known to stop further advancement on our part. Wouldn't it have given them the perfect opportunity to say to the allies, "Alright you can stop now, he's dead". It may have been a ploy but they would have been able to stall our momentum

Not if at least one of his sons is alive or some other senior member of his regime. They probably would lose more in morale and support of their own people's will to fight than they would gain by "persuading" us to stop.

I am really beginning to think he is dead, or at the very least, severely incapacitated. I agree that with his ego, he would want to PROVE to everyone that he is alive and well and still running the country.

SADLY NO. I think he's a coward and he's hiding out in some bunker, just like Hitler.

I thought this too for a while, but here's the thing: Even if he is out of the country, he wouldn't want the Iraqi people to know that. He still has access to the media, and could very easily tape himself with proof (such as today's newspaper) that he is alive. So that also goes against the theory that he won't show up in a live broadcast for security reasons; he can videotape himself ANYWHERE with proof of life, but he hasn't.

I am not really sure if he is alive or not.. but I do believe that if he is alive, he is injured... he is a true ham and loves for his face to appear on camera, I think he would take any opportunity to slam the US so I have to think here, he is incapacitated in some manner..

Now, if he is injured, and unable to defend himself....it puts him at risk as I am sure there are many who would like to take him out... even in his own regime..to save themselves...

You know, I posted here earlier that I thought saddam was probably still alive but I'm really begining to wonder about that now. I don't see the reasoning behind him not taping himself somewhere with a current newspaper and sending the tape to the press. It could be done anywhere without giving his location away and I can think of lots of reasons he would want to do that but not too many good ones for why he wouldn't. Before I was just thinking in terms of a live broadcast and I see the dangers in that but not in a taped broadcast and so now I'm starting to wonder....
