Does anyone else have this problem with the DDE?

When I was down in January I used my DDE card all the time. It is a great program with, I believe, one exception. When I used the card it appeared that the server would need a manager's approval for the discount. At a sit down restaurant it was fine and we never knew, but at the "bars", Rose and Crown and Bellvue room, it seemed awkward. At times when the Rose and Crown was packed I would give the server my card and then the server would disappear. It seemed awkward since all the people next to me were waiting to be served. We travel in a group of 10 so the savings was significant, so I continued to use the card at the bars. Did anyone else notice this? If so are they still continuing this procedure?

Yep, our server at Concourse Steakhouse had to find her manager too.
So who knows which restaurant needs approval and which don't.
As long as they give us the discount I'm happy...

Never had a problem last week. We used the card as a family at Tusker House, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Faire, Mama Melrose, Alfredo's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Whispering Canyon, Boma (breakfast and dinner), Cape May Cafe, and Kona. Dh and older ds used it a couple of times on their own, but I'm not sure where they ate.

I'd read on a different thread that people have had this difficulty at Victoria Falls at AKL. I didn't have trouble at any of the restaurants I visited last time, but didn't try and use it at a bar.

Yes, it has happened to me, too. But hey, if that is their system, you should not feel guilty (although it is awfully sweet that you are concerned about ther other bar patrons.) They need a better system, I guess!
