I just got back from the grocery store with my 3 DD (7,4,2) I just wish I could go somewhere without someone saying "Boy you have your hands full". It seems every where I go this summer someone says that to me. In my head I am translating this to "Boy are you crazy" (LOL) My girls are VERY talkative and "helpful" at the store. But this is anywhere we go... we were in WDW last week and people said it there... it is full of oodles of kids and they say to my DH and I "Boy you have your hands full". It sounds like they are out of control but they aren't that bad.

Is it just something that people say when they don't know what to say? Or is it somehow a compliment that I am an amazing mom juggling 3 kids while shopping (LOL)? Or is it that I really am crazy?

Does anyone else get that or am I the only one that has her "hands full"... I'll be honest I have my hands full with just the 2 yo especially when she wants to help and won't stay in the cart but the other ones are good and the 2 yo is " just 2".

:hyper2:

I get it all the time, I got it #3 and now that she's here you'd think I walked out with 12 kids in tow!! DS just sounds like 12 kids, I swear I only have three and it's not that bad!

I love when I get it from Moms who have kids that make mine look like mutes.

I just say thanks or tell them I'd rather have my hands full then be without the little boogers.

I don't think it's meant to imply that your kids are out of control, just that it's a lot to take care of three kids that age.

It's funny... my neighbor has three young kids and wonders how I can be so calm with my 6 year old. I tell her it's simple -- I'm not outnumbered! ;)

They're close in age, and most of us have been there and done thta and know what your days can be like.

I'd give anything to have my hands full again. My guys just don't seem to need me anymore, let alone go to the supermarket with me.

I think they are just saying that cause there is one adult to three children and that's alot to handle by yourself. I know I have a hard time at times with just my daughter, especially if she is fussy and screaming.

r3angels,
We get that all the time -- DDs are 7,5 and 2 and then people seem to imply that it's doubly bad because they're all girls. DH gets especially irked by the "wait till they get older" comments. Mine aren't angels but they're not usually running around screaming either. I guess people just feel the need to say something.

I would ignore them-You have been blessed with 3 princesses.

I wish I were so lucky!

I get it all the time. Although they are not mine, I currently care for 5 kids aged 2-4, my own DS4, one 8 year old, and my DS9. When we are out on a field trip, we certainly are a group of our own. :D

My standard response has become "they are all good kids" - which is the truth (they save the problems for their parents when they pick them up at night ;) ).

I would take it as a compliment as to what a nice job your doing raising your children.

People have been saying that to us for years. DS-15, DD-14, DS-11, DS-8, and DD-6. We just look at them smile and say we are so thankful and wouldn't have it any other way. Truthfully though, if the dr. had not told me it would be medically dangerous for me to have 1 more we would have.

Yes, I get that comment too and I have 3 kids. I have also been told by strangers that my children look like happy children. :sunny:

I get that all the time...and I only have 1 kid. But she's very hyper and high-strung. She has enough energy for 12 kids. HELP ME!!!

I really do think it is meant as a complement. Sort of "wow, you've got these active children and you are keeping it all together so well".

I get told that all-the-time. I have two boys, who are "busy", ages 3 & 6. I just say, "Yep, they DO keep me busy, but it's fun." :teeth:

We get that all the time too!! Since our sigs are gone you can't see our little troopers...but we have 5...DS 9, DD 7, DD 5, DS 3, and DD 4 months. So if I take them all to the store we need two carts. During the summer I generally go after DH comes home from work.

I can take that phrase as either a compliment and reply likewise...."I love it and wouldn't have it any other way"...or as a WOW you're crazy and then I just agree with them. We are crazy and I still wouldn't change it!!!

speaking as a childless single person I think I have trouble balancing myself and my activities without adding three children. I honestly do not know how people do it and make it look so easy.

Take it as a compliment.

You guys are making me feel better. I love your comments back too! I am just laughing thinking what would these people say if those of you who have 5 followed me in line... I think they would just passed out. HA HA
