Does anyone else have their "hands full"?

I get this a lot in the summertime when I have all 3 following me. I also get told that they are very well behaved.;)

I have to agree with my hands being full because that is exactly how I feel most of the time.

I have 2 year old triplets and if I seriously can not go anywhere without hearing that atleast a dozen times. Then people feel like they need to ask me if I have a nanny (ah no, if I had a nanny do you think I would have 3, 2 year olds in walmart). I even had a mother of twins say once, look honey it could have been worse LOL.

If I were to say something like that to someone, I would mean it as a compliment. I only have 2 kids and they keep me hopping. IMO, anyone who has more, especially young ones, close in age, and still has their sanity in tact, is pretty amazing to me. I say it to my friend all the time...she has 4 DDs, 1, 5, 6, & 12.
If I were you, when I hear that, Id take it as a compliment...that you do have your hands full and you are handling it very well. :D

I have DD9, DS7, and DD1, and I hear stuff like that a lot. Generally, I take it as a compliment/sympathy thing, said with a smile. Believe me, if your kids were hellions, people would be too busy scrambling for the exits rather than stopping to comment!

My standard reply is, "Yeah, most days, I'd keep 'em!"

I have 3 kids as well and my 2 older kids are 16 mos apart so when I get that whole spiel about having my hands full I just tell the person

"I figure I'll get my sin payments out of the way early that way when I get to heaven I can relax, watch everyone else and think the same ridiculous thing!"

Usually it shuts them up...but then I am very blunt.

I got the "you got your hands full" comment today at the post office, and for once my 3 kids 5,3,3 were being good! (not like the trip to get 2 kids fitted for glasses- oh the horror! ) I feel when most people say it to me it is in amazement that I dared to take them all out at once.

I get this too, DD6, DS3 and DD9months, although I get this more -- you must be really busy! Well, duh!! I'm a mom, of course I'm busy. It wouldn't matter if I had one kid or 10, I'd still be busy. I just smile now and say yes.

I don't know if you have your hands full, but I would say you have a lot on your plate;)

With four boys (all born within 5 years) ages 8, 7, 4, 3, the phrase "you have your hands full, don't you?" is my theme song.

It's closely followed by the well-know tune, "I don't know how you do it."

I actually take it as a compliment. I sort of understand what they are saying because I feel the same about people who have six, seven or more children.

4 boys here too--well actually 5 now because we are in the process of becoming guardians to my oldest ds best friend, who is 16.
People always say "oh I dont know how you do it" Well you just do it. Our house isnt always clean--or quiet for that matter but everyone stays in one piece (for the most part ;) ).
Its just part of everyday life to load up everyone to go grocery shopping, out to eat or whatever.
Seems like the funniest thing is people think I should be awarded some type of medal for putting up with only boys all the time. I dont know why they think if I had 2b/2g vs 4 boys it would be easier

I only have 1 child (8 yr old with ADHD) but have been raising him on my own since he was born. Needless to say, single parent. I went back to school in 98 to earn my degree so at times I was taking 3 college classes, working a full time job, taking care of my son, and still found time to clean, do laundry, spend time with my son, and sleep (rarely more than 4 hrs a night). I wouldn't hear "you've got your hands full" as much as I'd hear "you've really got a lot on your plate".

I got to the point where I'd just tell people, "Let's just say my plate is very full". People always ask how do you do it or WHY are you doing it all? Can't get a decent job anymore w/out college education.

Still...it's nice that some people recognize how hard it is...and I only have ONE! I don't know how people do it with 3 or 4 kids!

My sister had surgery three weeks ago, so I helped take care of her, and her children while her husband was at work. She has three boys - 7, 3, 16 mos., and one daughter - 5. I took ALL FOUR of them to go grocery shopping at Wal-mart! I can't tell you how many times I heard that expression in one trip. I have to admit, "I DID HAVE MY HANDS FULL !" I have a new respect for my sister. She makes having a large family seem so easy. By the time that everyone convinced me they needed to ride in the basket, and I got them all loaded, my next problem, where do you put the groceries !?! I think we could have won a prize for Funniest Videos.
Here's to all the Mom's Who Have Their Hands Full. You have my respect and admiration.

"Boy you have your hands full".
I get that quite a lot when it's just me and my son that are out and about.:p I really get it when I take my 2 kids and their twin cousins with me to stores. People just look at me and shake their head and ask me how I do it. I tell them 2 are mine, 2 are on loan, which really confuses them.:p
