Or am I the only party pooper?? I just find all the little fibs and tricks to be very annoying!

I agree...it just gives those people that are generally childish and mean a day to bask in their glory. JMHO.

 :jester: :p

The only silver lining to being stuck at home with a broken ankle is that I can avoid the pranks at the office today. I did however make the mistake of telling my daughter how to rig the kitchen sink sprayer to soak the first person to use it by putting a rubber band around the trigger and aiming it appropriately. DW Sue got soaked this morning when DD Sarah asked her to get her a glass of water.

I think that my kids know better than pranking their old man. But since they are both fearless teenagers, I may be mistaken.

I don't find it annoying, I'm just no good at doing the pranks myself. I can't keep a straight face.

Of course, I am always the first to be fooled. I'm very gullible.

I totally agree. I teach sixth-graders. One of them "April Fooled" me that his other teacher's mother had died!! Needless to say, this was followed by a brief explanation of the boundaries of the "holiday!"

it's really a non-issue for me. since i graduated college, no one i know has tried to pull any pranks.

I don't mind it. I love to hear about all the pranks and wished I could have thought of something that clever. My mom on the other hand absolutely hates it. I am the only one in my family that doesn't mind it. Everyone else thinks it's annoying.

My kids just got me with the kitchen sprayer trick. Now they're waiting for my husband, they rigged the computer on him.

I've been "had" by monkeyboy three times today! You would thik I would figure it out!

I don't like it either. I like hearing about all the clever things but the little childish things bug me. But then again, I teach high school. I've been dreading this all year.

In fact, I have even been pretty irritated at the "jokes" that have appeared here on the various boards today.

The whole thing is so childish. So immature.

I especially hate it when broadcasters pull the jokes during the news, etc. Just not professional in my opinion.

I can't imagine why people would go so far as to "hate" it? I've never been a creative type that could think up jokes and was never one for pulling pranks, but it's not like I hate the day.

wow........this place seems a little too tightly wound..hate is such an ugly word..one that should be *****'ed out IMHO

It's April Fools Day..lighten up already

My dd thinks it lasts the whole month, and her only joke is "there is a spider on your back" only 29 days to go!

I never really gave it much thought until a few years ago my BIL pulled a prank on me. He had someone pretend to be a state trooper, call me and tell me my DH was in an accident and in the hospital. :( When I asked which hospital he was in he said "The hospital of April Fools". Well, I started crying. He still laughs about it:rolleyes: I still don't think it was very funny, but I have since forgiven him.:teeth:

So I'm a little nervous when April Fool's Day rolls around.

I'm sorry, but that is a HORRIBLE thing to do and I see nothing funny about it. It's nice that you've forgiven him.

I don't think that "hate" is too strong a word - especially when you hear stories like this one.

I don't mind harmless fun jokes/pranks. However cruelty is not acceptable at any time. Having someone believe a loved one is injured or dead is far from funny.
