Does anyone else get Post Disney Trip Depression?? BOO HOOO

I know what you mean. Two years ago(Feb, 2003), I went to Disney by car and that trip back home was the longest, most depressing ride.(especially in February, when it's warm at WDW and snowing at home). I wanted to go back so bad that I scraped together the money and went back to WDW four months later(by plane) for a couple of days. At least on that trip, the ride back only took 2 hours vs. 12 hours by car.

I agree...it's amazing how fast the time goes when your in Disney. During the first week you keep saying we still have another week so it makes you happy because you feel like you still have alot of time and then before you know it your in that final week and the days just fly!!!!!!
My DH always has that final video of us in the limo back to the airport to go home and we are so depressed and it's so obvious in our faces, nobody is even talking on that ride to the airport. :sad2:

I honestly think there's some addiction element to those of us who love Disney so much. Disney is more than just fun, it's more than a vacation--it's stepping into a dream for a short time where all the fantasies from childhood come alive. Every trip I think "maybe this will be enough for a while--maybe I'll get it out of my system." But I come home, spend the first month in a funk, then I start planning the next trip.

The DisBoards are a great asset to those of us who need to keep connected to Disney apart from our trips. Thank-you!

EXACTLY!! :grouphug:

count me in as well! When I got back in Oct from our trip being home was such a let down! Coming to the disboards, planning "the next" trip, looking at pictures, and reading anything disney is what keeps me going till my next fix. dpic I totally agree with you about stepping into a dream...what a great way to put it :)

Very well said! This is just how I feel! We went this past December and I still have "After Disney Depression" -- I was seriously thinking of going back alone for a few days in May (for my birthday), but I can't quite bring myself to go without my nieces and nephew...my one niece in particular would be heartbroken, because all she talks about is going back to WDW.

Looking at pictures helps and I ordered two Disney World DVD's that I can't wait to watch...sometimes when no one is around I watch the planning video too...not sure if that hurts or helps though! :confused3

My Dh is in the Navy and for the last 2 years we were living in Jacksonville FL. It was great we took day and weekend trips to WDW all the time. We have been up in WA state now for 5 months and I am going thru major withdrawls :sad2: The only thing keeping me going is planning our trip to WDW in Nov. It can't get here soon enough. Hubby retires from the Navy in about 9 years and we are thinking about moving back to FL just to be close to the mouse :earsboy:

I tried to plan a different trip once and thought "let's keep it Disney but go to Disneyland." Well, we thought about it and said it wouldn't be the same. WDW is the place for us.
I even have a friend who lives not 20 mins. away and they never go to Disney. I don't get it!!!! She's only lived there for about 6 years now, it's not like she's lived there all her life and can say she's bored with it.
I just can't wait until August :cool1:

Me too! :wave2: My DH says I have "issues." Last time on the plane ride home I'll admit I cried. :guilty: I don't leave for 18 days and I am already dreading coming home. Last week I was trying to extend our trip thinking it was too short but it was too expensive. We weren't even supposed to be going until this time next year so I keep telling myself to knock it off and enjoy this "bonus" trip to WDW. I guess we all have "issues" but what a great addiction to have. My DH isn't going this time but has agreed to go next year so I have that to look forward to. That is my dream to go every year . . . or my manical plot . . . either way it is coming true because if we go next year that will be three years in a row!

Well Tinkim I sure do envy you because I have to wait until August. We only go once a year so enjoy the fact that your taking this "bonus" trip. My DH usually goes every Oct. for a convention at work but me and the boys have to stay home because of school.
So don't get depressed....be excited that your leaving soon!!!!

Been back 1 full week after 9 nights at the Poly. We still talk about it daily, trying to plan a quick trip in October for 4 nights, even if it does not happen the planning is a good way to get thru the return depressions. Good thing for us spring is coming and you can't beat spring and summer in New England.

Hello my name is Dave and I am a Disney addict

You are so right. I think there is something wrong with me. I mean, Disney is for kids, right? When I tell people that I can't wait to go back, they look at me like I fell from the sky or something. I think our big mistake was staying on Disney property this time (for the first time). POFQ was idyllic, relaxing,...now nothing less will do. I just couldn't get back to normal life when I returned, all I could think about was going back (that was May 2004). DH doesn't want to go back, thinks its boring (thinks I'm obsessed, maybe he's right). I'm secretly planning another trip with DD and DS. I live in fantasy.

It's definitely hard going back home. Even my kids get a bit depressed. I agree with the poster who talked about withdrawal, It is real. We just decided to take 2 trips a year. With the MYW tickets that makes it a lot more affordable we're buying 10 day tickets with the no expiration option and we're going to slpit those up into 4 days at the parks, 3 days and 4 days. We own at SSR so that also helps and we usually find good airfare on priceline or cheap tickets. We tried to make it a full year but it was just to hard. We went in June of 04. We're going back in April and again in December. We'll just keep it going like that.

Meanwhile I'll just keep coming to the DIS for my daily fix. Im also going to start scrapbooking. I Homeschool, and I'm creating a curriculum that incorperates all things Disney. Thats pretty involved. I plan and research research and plan and of course we watch our promo DVD regularly. :earsboy:

Okay everyone, I think I have a solution for all of us.....we need to buy a second property in Florida!!!!!
With all the money we spend in park tickets it could just be possible.
Sound good???? :goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome

We had a great trip, very spoiled at the Poly, food was good every where we ate. Weather was so so but we missed the blizzard and the deep chill so I guess the weather was great! Lots of green walls up :guilty: but COP was open so that made up for allot for me.

Introduced me FIL to Disney he always thought it was foolish kids stuff and never wanted to go, MIL said that the first day back home he was telling everybody how great it was and is planning on stopping for a couple of days when they head north for the summer.

You're definitely not alone. This time last Monday we were spending our last morning at the MK, before heading out to the airport. We were there for 10 nights & had a wonderful trip - but, that ride to the airport was very depressing. We have AP's this year & were considering another trip in September to get another use of them, so I was looking forward to planning that trip...then my hubby mentioned that we should go instead in May to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary & check out the 50th celebration!!! :teeth: Now, by next weekend I need to start making PS's already.

We always take tons of pictures & I am doing a scrapbook for all of our Disney trips (have completed 2000, 2002 & 2003) - still working on 2001, 2004 & now 2005. It's a great way to relive all of those moments in the photos. I also find it helps to log-in here - nobody in our family or workplace seem to understand the magic of Disney (many have never been there.) I'm reluctant to tell most people that we may be going again in May - I get the same old "Wouldn't you like to go somewhere else?" I really feel like nobody understands us sometimes.

It's always fun to plan the next trip - whether it's 3 months, or a year away - maybe you can plan a trip a little further out for everyone's schedules? It would definitely give you something to look forward to! :teeth:

Everytime we get back from a Disney trip I go through my dperessed "I want to go back right NOW" phase. It's such a jolt back to reality having to go from the happiest place on earth to...home :rotfl: I just love Disneyworld and going home after a trip stinks

We have family that go to WDW alot and I used to say, "don't you want to go somewhere else on your vacation?" Now, it seems we've been going to DL & WDW alot over the last several years. I think it's not only how much fun Disney is, it's just that a Disney vacation (especially a WDW vacation) is so hassle-free. All you have to do is get to the resort. And now with Disney starting the new thing with getting your luggage to your room, it can't be easier!

We just went to WDW last month and I'm already trying to figure out when to go again. The older kids I can't pull out of school, but my younger children are only in preK and Kindergarten. I'm thinking of maybe taking a quick trip to WDW with just the 2 little ones and then we can take another family vacation the first week of January (our school district doesn't start back to school until the 2nd week of January).

BTW, I don't get depressed after I get home from WDW. But I do have this "longing" to be back with the kids right away. Maybe it's something Disney puts in the water to get us "hooked"...lol.

I just wish I would have purchased an Annual Pass like I wanted to!!!!

Mary
