Does anyone else find the beds too small?!

DH and I have no issues, but our DD stopped complaining about her sister hogging the bed when we switched to CSR (queen beds) mid-trip.


I do think it's ridiculous to have double beds in a resort.
I thought queens were fairly standard and I can't imagine that they cost that much more.

DH and I are average sized, but the rest of my family are giants. My parents and my two adult sisters stayed in one room at Pop last year and were pretty miserable over the size of the beds. My brother is 6'6" (and... whatever's bigger than pooh-sized) and his wife is 6'4"-- I can't even imagine them trying to fit into one of those beds.

Nope, dh and I manage just fine and dh is 6'1". We slept on a double for a long time and now we have a queen.

A double bed is the width of two crib mattresses, but longer (under 6' long).

We have a queens size at home, and when I pick any hotel I always look at what size the beds are. It has to be a queen or bigger. The house we are renting in FL this summer has a king bed--whoo hooo lots of room.

The only problem with beds that I had was with Pop Century. I had a big party (8) so we needed a good place to stay that was cheap.. Now that we have joined the DVC, we should do a lot better now

Yep, they're small! We're seasoned co-sleepers, though, so we don't mind. Before we had a queen sized bed in our home, it was me, DH and our three year old in a full size bed. We were perfectly comfortable. It all depends on what you're used to.

Doubles do seem quite small if you're used to a queen or king. We stayed at Pop in 2006 when our boys were 11 and 8. DH and the DS 11 shared a double while I shared w/DS8. Now that the boys are 14 and 11, that wouldn't work. We feel like we've already outgrown 2-bed hotel rooms. Our 14 year old is tall and needs his own bed and the boys bicker if they have to sleep together. From now on, we'll be looking for rooms with 2 queens and a pull-out couch or a roll-away.

We have been having that problem with our boys too. When we went in Sept. we booked AKL cause of the queen beds and bunk beds. And we are cruising in 2 weeks and have 2 staterooms so that everyone can sleep well.

One reason I wouldn't like a moderate or value resort is the double beds (or needing two rooms if we did a king connecting?). .

The only Moderate with queens is CSR. All of the rest have doubles.

It doesn't bother us at all but then DH and I share a double bed at home. I have an antique bed from my grandparents and I love it. I'm 5'7" and DH is just a tad over 6".

It's actually weird when we sleep in a king sized bed at a hotel. It feels enormous.

I don't have that issue. We have a California King at home, but the doubles work just fine for us. And we are both bigger people. Granted, we end up playing musical beds anyway most of the time since the kids pick and choose each night who they sleep with. But DH and I sleep just fine together in the doubles. he is 6'6 and well over 300. I am 5'6 and um, round. And we can sleep in the bed without touching, amazingly!

As much money Disney makes there is no excuse to have double beds. Even the crappiest of motels have queens as thier standard.

Not true. Hampton Inns have mostly double beds. Holiday Inn Express often have double beds. Lots of the very nice hotels have double beds instead of queens - and I'm talking the deluxe/luxury hotels.

Size wise the values don't have a lot of extra room for queens.

Has anyone ever requested a King bed room at a moderate, and had the kids sleep on air mattresses?

A few years ago when my kids were little (2 and 3) we requested (and got) a King bed room at CSR. We had the kids sleep on kid-sized air mattresses. Worked out great. But I've always wondered if we were just lucky to get a nice CM, or if it's not common for King bed rooms to have 4 people in them due to fire codes etc?

We're staying at POFQ this summer and I'm not looking forward to sharing a double bed with my DD7. My hubby and I are used to a king bed at home!

No can do. A moderate room with a king sized bed is limited to two persons plus one under the age of three.

Yep - it was a challenge. Even sleeping each of us with a kid 8 or under. We're used to king at home and I don't know why but BOTH kids want to sleep on top of us. We move them to their own side, fall back to sleep only to be awakened 1/2 hr later being smothered by a torso, or leg or arm. Not to mention DS grinds his teeth in whoever's ear gets to sleep with him.

We are seriously considering two connecting rooms next trip so everyone has their own bed.

AGREED!! we stay at the swan every year, and one of the first things we do when we arrive at disney is hop on the beds and think "man, we get to sleep on this little piece of heaven for the next week!!" i wish i had one of their beds at home!
