Does anyone else find it odd....

when your kids start school that they know people that you don't .

I have always known everyone that my DD knows and now when we go to the grocery store or out somewhere we are constantly running into people (kids & special class teachers) that she talks to or says hi to that I don't know who they are.

Just a little signal that she is growing up way too fast!!!!!

I think kids like to know they know more than their parents, even if it's just that they know more people.

yep I hate that too. Especially adults. I always make it a point to introduce myself to them though.


DS (8) hates it more though when a *gasp* GIRL comes up and says hi to him when he's with me

He always rolls his eyes and says " WHY ME???"

This was an eye-opening adjustment for me, too. I remember how odd it felt to realize that DS had a social life that didn't really include me when he started school.

Once you get used to the shock of it, it's really fun to watch them grow into being their own people, separate from you...
