Does anyone else feel this way?

With all the free stuff disney is given away these days to get people into the parks, BUY 4 GET 3 FREE, $750 gift card to use in parks for food and etc, Free Dining Does anyone feel the should be doing something for there loyal base of DVCers. I mean we are the ones going back again and again. We are the ones there through think and thin.

Wouldn't be nice to hear from Disney and have them say, Thanks DVCers for supporting us all these years, here are some fee parks passes for your or on your next stay the dining plan is free. Or what if they give us a free Tables in Wonderland Card even if we don;t have an Annual Pass.

Its just the same old story DVCers will keep coming back so noithing free for you. Its almost cheaper and probably is cheaper for me to bank my points and use the promotions. Maybe I will do that and go on the cruise next year? Hmm thats an Idea

No, I don't feel that way.

I have specific likes. I like to stay in Villas. I don't like huge lines for checkin, which I've had to endure at Pop and Moderates. And I like my surroundings to be fun, whimsical and still geared to adults as well as children.

And, I want to stay 2 nights at BLT in April. 50 points for Bay Lake view. $1204 cash. The 50 points cost me about $375 with buy in and dues. Even if I got the room 1/2 price with some discount right before Easter , I'd still have a hefty 2 night food budget left over.

I'm getting what I paid for, plus some perks. I'm happy.

I couldn't say it any better! :thumbsup2

It seems to me that people sometimes have trouble leaving the 'hotel' mindset behind when they buy a timeshare. It's an entirely different economic arrangement, which is very obvious when you read the contract (though I know many, if not most, buyers, have never done that).

When I purchased my DVC contract, I bought real estate from a real estate developer: Disney Vacation Development. That's who my contract is with. Not Disney Parks, not Walt Disney Travel Company. They share a parent company, but they are different business units with their own budgets and financial goals. That big "Disney" that people refer to, as in "Disney should show some appreciation", or "I paid so much money to Disney, so they should give me stuff"....doesn't exist. Not in the way that some seem to think it does. Like all major companies, Disney is a collection of separate, smaller business units that operate independently, and sometimes have common goals, but the money is separate.

The money I paid to purchase DVC, and the dues I pay, go to DVD. Why should WDTC give me the free dining package they offer? I don't give them a thin dime. They don't know what I spend on DVC, and they don't care, since they're not getting any of that money.

OK, then should DVD "show their appreciation" by paying WDTC to give me free dining? That argument makes no sense to me at all. It's like buying a condo from a real estate developer and then deciding that they should show their appreciation by giving me hundreds of dollars worth of free food on a regular basis. What possible business reason would they have for doing that?

I like your saying Casper about SSR! Nothing on Boardwalk compares to the quick service meals offered at Artist Pallette. Only place on Boardwalk for quick service meals is at the BW Bakery. The BW Bakery is good, but small and gets over crowded very quickly. Disney really does need to add another quick service type restaurant on the BW. Lots of good sit down restaurants on BW though. YUM!

Well said. In fact I think it's why some owners expect "deluxe"accomodations and are disapointed, yes, it's Disney (DVC), but it's still a timeshare.

Just because it's a timeshare it doesn't mean that we should be satisfied with rooms that aren't cleaned and stocked properly and problems caused by MS.

Who says we are? We've never had cause for concern in our ten years as owners. Rooms have always been fresh, clean, well appointed and stocked. MS has always treated us like a guest. My mother-in-law could learn a thing or two from them.

The only thing that I have been really bugged by is the loss of free valet parking..I really loved that. I will never valet in disney again.

To the OP remarks, I don't feel that DVC members should be getting any special deals because the economy has hit the travel industry, they already have us. I do think it would make me think twice if I were currently thinking about buying. As long as they need to offer deep discounts to get people in rooms, they will. When things improve and demand goes up the discounts will be scaled back.

It would be nice if Disney offered any rewards program like other major hotel chains.

Does any timeshare offer a rewards program? I would assume those award programs are designed for cash guests, to encourage brand loyalty in their spending for lodging. With DVC, we've already decided on brand loyalty.

Not sure if any time share offer rewards program but was more of a general statement then a specific dvc one. Mostly I have been satisfied with dvc and the resorts I own or have stayed at but oh for the days of free park passes lol
