We leave in 14 days and I can't get into to planning our meals this time. I only have two ADRs so far. The day we arrive we are eating a Trails End Buffet for dinner, then heading to MK for EEH and the day we go to MGM were having lunch at Sci Fi. We only decided to go for Spring Break 12 days ago and we can't wait  , but this trip I don't want to be preoccupied with worrying about getting to an ADR in time. I want this trip to be more relaxed and spontanious at the same time. We are staying at a FW Cabin so we can eat some meals at the cabin and I know we are eating at ESPN Club one evening for my DS13. I know there are some restaurants we won't be able to get into, but thats okay. Does anyone else feel this way?

:woohoo: 2 weeks and we're headed to Disney :woohoo:

Personally I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I have read trip report after trip report saying the days of not making ADRs are over. I personally saw people being turned away from 2 restaurants for not having ADRs when we were there in early December - slow season!!! I think if you are going during Spring Break, you NEED ADRs. Even try to make them the day before if necessary, but DO NOT try to do a walk-up. There have been pictures posted of a sign in MK that says, "All table service for today is booked."

Now, if you are willing to eat at resort restaurants or at conter service, I think you will be ok. If you want to eat anywhere in a park, you NEED an ADR.

I think what you wrote above is key. If you are "ok" with not getting into restaurants, that is your answer.....if you are ok with maybe eating at more counter service reastaurants, than you are also ok. Only YOU can answer that question. I know for my family, our meals are a HUGE part of our vacation....I have to have atleast one ADR a day for a nice sit down meal....otherwise we just wouldn't enjoy it. We just do not enjoy rushing or eating at counter servie....so planning for us is a big deal.......but that is for my family....if yours doesn't feel that way, than I think you will be ok.

2 ADR dinners are fine. The rest can consist of restaurants that do not need ADRs. There are plenty of these. Since it' s a Spring Break trip why not let the kids pick out what they want to eat. Give them the counter service options and let them choose away. When your at EPCOT why don't you pick something small from each country. Like in China eat a serving of Lo Mein, while in the UK grab some fish and chips, then head to France for dessert at the pastry place. ADR eateries don't make your trip, they just enhance it. There are plenty of other great places to try.

Thanks for replying! We are not a family that has to eat a table service meal every night. We will be perfectly happy with cs meals and we are staying at the FW cabins so we will have a full kitchen. The only other meal my DD10 and DD8 insist on is the Rainforest Cafe at DD (they love this place and insist on it every trip) and they don't take ADR's. So thats 3 out of 5 nights already taken care of. Because we have a ADR for TEB, were eating at ESPN and Rainforest@DD, and these 2 don't take ADR's. We eat cs for lunch with exception of ADR for Sci Fi. So that only leaves 2 nights.
So I'm not worried, If we have to eat at the cabin a couple of nights thats just fine by me. (My husband is a grilling machine) pixiedust:
No worries we're going to Disney!! :teeth:

I have an ADR at Rainforest at DD?!? May 17th at 9.00pm, made it 180 days in advance...... :confused3

You can make ADRs but they are not required. It will reduce wait time for you.

I have not been to Disney yet, we are going in 2 weeks but we made ADR's for an excess of restaurants so that we'll have a place to eat and if we change our minds that day we can always cancel them right? I'd rather have the option of a sit-down meal in place just in case that is what we want to do.

Unless you are a Safari Club member, I would definitely suggest making an ADR for Rainforest Cafe! Without one, you could wait 2 or 3 hours if you go at peak time.
Other than that, if you're happy with Counter Service or meals in your cabin, we are, too. Only you know what will make you and your family happiest. Disney does have some great Counter Service places. I'd suggest that you make a list of those, then check out their menus on AllEarsNet.com, so that when you get hungry in the parks, you won't have to spend time wondering where places are and what they serve, you'll already have a list of great places and the menus at hand.
Personally, there are too many great TS places I "need" to try first! Have a great trip! :goodvibes

With the dinning plan now you may have to wait long without adr's.

Things have been picking up crowd-wise all over Disney property since the start of the 50th anniversary.
There was a time that we literaly made no dining reservations {priority seatings as they were called previously} until the day we arrived. Now, it is becoming more and more difficult to dine without a reservation. I would try and make as many ADR's as possible.

The only thing that I'd worry about without ADRs over spring break would be the lines at the CS restuarants. If the choice were no ADRs and simply walk up and get food in 10 to 15 mins at CS or ADRs I could see people choosing no ADRs. But I understand from these boards that CS lines can get to be 45 mins long and then people can't find tables to sit at to eat. That would drive me crazy.
