Does anyone else ever dream of retiring to Orlando?

I do! Yeah, its quite a ways off, but whenever I think about the girls growing up and moving out of the house and DH and I retiring I can't think of anyplace I'd rather move than WDW. I'd love to spend my days enjoying the various parks, soaking up the atmosphere, eating dinners out at the World Showcase, Downtown Disney, and the resort restaurants. And if we get tired of Disney, there's also Sea World, Universal, and City Walk. There is so much to do I just love that whole area. And best of all, our future grandkids will absolutely LOVE coming to visit! DH is a golfer so maybe I can use the year-round golfing as an incentive to win him over to the idea. I honestly think I would go nuts if we retired here in Atlanta, I'd be bored silly with no kids at home and DH watching TV day in and day out! Am I nuts or does anyone else share my dream?

If you're nuts, then so am I. DH and I plan to move to central FL when he retires. For the very same reasons you want to.:D

Oh, I absolutely want to retire in Orlando & work in WDW.

My dream was to work at the front desk at a resort, but after reading Stepharoonie's posts & discovering that they require front desk CM's to wear pantyhose, I'm going to have to reconsider my job choice - LOL.

I'd love to retire to Disney area. DW would love to move now but I don't want to pick up and have to start all over professionally. DD is 8 and I don't want to uproot her either. Perhaps in about 20 years when she's grown and I'm about ready for retirement.

Not sure about Orlando, but I would love to move to FL. Maybe Tampa or down to Naples area... I love the Gulf coast of FL :)

Oh yeah! When DH retires, we are moving to FL. :bounce: Of course, that is a looooong way away.

I would move to Orlando in a heartbeat! (Now if I can only convince DW! She hates the darn lizards! I think we could adopt them as pets!)

One of my biggest fantasies would be to work at the WDW. I'm not sure I could work with the vacationers very long because I would be too jealous! HA HA! But as a tech behind the scenes? I would love it! If the management fits into that fantasy world of mine of course. ( I need Bert the Chimney Sweep from Mary Poppins as my boss!)

That's my fantasy and I'm sticking to it. But some things are best kept as fantasies just so they don't get ruined.

Pretty kinky huh?

::yes:: ::yes:: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We share your dream too and we are going to move there when my boss retires - which may be as soon as December, 2004!!!! We can't wait. We're in the process of trying to decide when to put our house on the market, but once the decision is made we'll be one step closer. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I would not want to live in Florida year-round as I don't do well with the extraordinary heat and humidity there, but I would LOVE to live up to our lake house in the mountains for 8 months out of the year and spend the other 4 months in Orlando..

Who knows? I may actually get to do it someday! ;)

....you mean there are people that don't????

One of my dreams has always been to move to FL, ever since I was little! ::yes:: And I plan on making my dream come true as soon as I am done with my Nursing Asst. course! Well it might not happen right after I am done with school, but it will happen in maybe a year or two! ::yes::

I am not sure I would want to live in Orlando though, but you never know. I was thinking of Lutz, Tampa and a few other places. But hey it just gives me another reason to go to FL( not like I really need a reason, LOL), so I can check out places to live and to find me a job!

Not to Orlando truthfully. Call me crazy, but if I am going to retire to Florida, I want to be near the coast...either one, but the coast nonetheless.

I also don't really want to retire to Orlando but perhaps somewhere coastal in Florida. I DO want to have lots of DVC points so that I can spend a good month or so at WDW per year!

NO.

It's a zoo down there. Especially with the traffic.

Any where within a couple of hours drive (like me now.... ;) ) is ok, but ORL is just too crowded now.

Who wants to wait until retirement. I WANT TO MOVE THERE NOW!!!
And yes I know I am shouting!:teeth:

Not me. I lived in the Tampa area for 4yrs and i was miserable!

Not only did we dream about retiring to Orlando - we actually did it and both of us now work (and play) at WDW. :earsgirl: :earsboy: Can't get any better than that!

Hope YOUR dream comes true for you.

Best wishes.

Yep - that would be me.:teeth:

This is going to sound a little nuts coming from someone who lives in AZ and deals with triple digit temps all summer long...
:sunny:

But I don't think I could take the weather there. I HATE hot, humid weather!

Note: AZ was not really my choice either weather-wise. Sometimes you gotta go where the job is - but not when you retire.
