Does Anyone Do This At All??

I don't know if Universal Studios is something not spoken of or if its okay. Anyway--If it was up to me we would stay in disney the whole time. However my son loves IOA. My question is--if we are planning on going there for one day what is the best way to get there if we are not planning on renting a car?? We will be staying at BWV. He is still young enough (7) That I COULD get away with telling him Universal is CLOSED but I dont know if this is fair because he is a HUGE spiderman fan and loves that ride.. After all the vacation is about the kids--BIG and SMALL. ----

ANY ADVICE??

Personally I think the best way to get there would be to take a cab. Go to the bell captain and tell him where you want to go and he'll arrange for a taxi to pick you up--normally they'll be at the resort within 5 minutes. Getting back is the same--they have cabs waiting at the parks (as a matter of fact, it's our preferred method of transportation when coming back from a park at or near closing--no lines, no waiting for the bus). Not sure of the cost to/from IOA though.

Another option would be to arrange for a transfer with Mears, or if you don't mind the expense, a towncar service. Call the day before and they'll pick you up. The downside to this is that you'll often have to go to multiple resorts to pick up people with Mears since they'll have multiple passengers requesting transfers--if I remember correctly, it took us about 1 & 1/2 hours to get to Universal back in the early 90's. Not sure if the service has changed, though.

I think you can rent a car at the Swan/Dolphin. A one day rental might be cheaper and easier than the taxi/shuttle options. Diana
