Does anyone do anything FUN on Thanksgiving?

we watch Macy's parade while eating breakfast and cooking. After noon time meal we take a nap, take a walk & play games. Supper time we head out to VA beach to drive on boardwalk to see christmas light display.

We used to go away to a big rented house (different one each year) with my inlaws, some years it was a blast, other years not so much. Haven't been able to lately due to older kids schedules, but I hope to do it again soon- sure beats sitting around watching football!

We meet the family at a nice hotel and have a big buffet for lunch, then go home! =) I love it!! No cleaning, no cooking, no dishes, no sitting around staring at each other.

We sometimes have a big family meal and sometimes not. I love to shop the early morning sales on the Friday after Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a cursed holiday for me.

In past years, on or within a day of Thanksgiving I have been violently ill, received a serious injury, had major appliances/cars/parts of my roof break, and received lots and lots of bad news.

I have now developed a major Thanksgiving phobia and just do my best to try and pretend the holiday doesn't exist. Unfortunately, my family does not appreciate my anti-Turkey Day attitude, and insist on celebrating it. But they do it without me.

I browse online stores and make up my Christmas shopping list, and just wait for it to be over.

We will be in WDW this year too! We will have been there for 8 days already, so T-day is going to be 'chill at AKL' day.

Usually we have T-day at our house and invite everyone we can. I love to have everyone here.

I am so excited to watch the Macy's parade and during commercials watch animals on the savannah! :cool1:

We usually invite my aunty and uncle over along with my cousin and her family for lunch. So during the morning, I wake up early to start cooking, and then go to get our Christmas tree. Come back home to cook more and then decorate the tree. All along, the t.v. is set to the Thanksgiving parade.

Late morning and early afternoon I usually spend time with my Mom, sister, brother, Mom's partner, and some friends. We eat (I try not to eat a lot) talk, it's fun. Then my brother and sister and I go to my Dad's, and all of our extended family comes over, we eat some more, talk, we have rather lively conversatons, we have a lot of fun, it is about spending time together, so a lot of my family likes it better than other holidays, I like all of them.

Well, I watch football at work, and except for the work part, it is great fun!

We sit around waiting for the food to cook, have a few cocktails (after 4:00, of course). We eat, clean up, eat pie, clean up again, and go home. :

We get together with some friends and that's exactly what we do. I enjoy it!

we go to the movies after eating turkey.

We put the turkey in the oven and then go see the movie, then we come home and eat! This year it'll be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! :wizard:

We spend the Holidays in the Arkansas Ozarks when we can. It's a favorite escape and a chance to just veg.

We used to do the whole family thing but then we moved away and I had to work the day after Thanksgiving so it didn't work out any more.

I like to watch the Macy's Parade while getting dinner on. If I am at DSis' house same routine, only we enjoy foo-foo coffees! If we are not together we will leave on our speakerphones for awhile & cook 'together'. The guys will watch sports. After dinner, we all--most especially DH--join in the clean up. We like board games, cards &/or going to the movies--this year Harry Potter, for sure. We start on our Christmas wreathes, the guys will play pool. We all plan out our commando after Thanksgiving Day sales strategies--Last thing we do is to pop in A Christmas Story & enjoy dessert

My friends and I have a long standing tradition(since before we were 21, LOL) to meet up at a local upscale restaurant for drinks, right at 11:00am (opening time). Over the years it has dwindled down some and there arent as many of us who go anymore. We did miss this last year, as the friend who usually gets it all together had just moved to CA. However, she has moved back so it looks like this year it will be on again. :cool1:

On the other hand my niece has recently made her high schools dance team so I will want to go to the football game to see her dance at the halftime show too. Hope thats before 11:00. :)

We have a "group" Thanksgiving where a few of us that have families cook food at someones house and invite the single soldiers that can't go home over. The guys all hang out and drink, play video games, watch sports, play outside while the wives/gfriends all get to talk and hang out (also plan day after strategies). Kids all run wild LOL. It is a blast.

I will be down at WDW with my DS and his fellow 120 band students! :bounce:

Maybe we will see (or hear!) ya! 87 more days to Disney! First trip since DH's return. :teeth: Lots to celebrate and be thankful for this year. :goodvibes

We've been going to Hershey for Thanksgiving for the past few years. But if going away isn't an option how about renting a movie or even going to a movie, getting out old photos or better yet home movies, playing board or card games, going for a drive or going for a walk?
