We don't mean to sound cheap, but it sounds like all of the
beverages aboard the ship are so expensive do any of you
ever bring your own pop, beer or wine for your cabin? If so
do you bring it in your carry on or checked luggage.

Sorry , I think i posted on the wrong board since is mostly had
questions. I will be happy to write a report when I get back
since I have enjoyed reading all of yours so much!!!

Yes, we brought several bottles of wine, a bottle of gin, and two 6-packs. Our group gathered in our room before dinner for a drink or two. We did purchase the wine package and drinks from the bars but I think that Disney's prices for drinks are too much compared to other cruise lines.

I didn't bring anything on at Port Canaveral, but I bought beer in each port on the voyage. If you're a beer drinker, I highly recommend it ! Even purchasing the beer mug gets to be expensive to refill. Get a 12 pack or so in each port and you're good to go!

'Beano'

We took a small suitcase on wheels full of soda as checked luggage. It was great because the suitcase was empty when we packed to go home and we had extra storage space for souvenirs, etc.

Beano is totally right on the money there. Buy beer at the ports when you can!!!

On both the cruises we have been on we have brought beverages.

I bought a strong nylon bag at Target and put it in the outside pocket of my suitcase.

When we got to MCO and Tiffany Towncars picked us up I told the driver I wanted to make a "beverage" stop. The exit before the Port he got off and took me to a convenience store and I put 2 12 packs of soda and a 12 pack of beer in it.

When we got to the port I checked it with the other bags and in a few hours it was at our room.

By the end of the cruise it was all gone.

Not only do you save money but it's really nice to come back from an excursion and pull something refreshing from your fridge. The kids loved it and I like a beer on the verandah at night.

We usually bring wine, beer and soda on board with us.
Helps keep the cost down for the whole family. Although for the next cruise I am considering the refillable mug for DS who is 11.

We always bring soda (pepsi) and bottled water. A bottle of water can run $3 or more. Even though the ship water is good the bottles come in handy ashore or around the pool. The refill mugs make a good keepsake but jeeze $20 for 4 days is a bit too much for us. We don't drink $20 worth of soda for our whole family for 7 days! Remember you can get ice tea, lemonade and order juice through room service for free. Bring your own mugs from home.

We brought our own even though we got free soda mugs. DH drinks caffiene free diet coke. I drink diet sprite. Neither is available at the ship soda fountain. There was Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. We brought a box of Capri Suns for the kids. They're not big fruit punch or lemonade fans and my DD doesn't really like soda. I brought my Captain Morgan and DH brought his Jim Beam. All were in the piece of luggage tagged by security as "suspicious" and had to be manually checked. It was picked because we had so much stuff crammed in the x-ray tech couldn't tell what was what! No problems with anything once they searched it.

I think we're gonna buy once we arrive in Orlando to avoid anything breaking while handled by airline baggage carriers. How do the DCL baggage handlers not break such valuables?

Although you are allowed to carry your own beverages onboard, recent Disney regulations stipulate that you should not pack them in your checked luggage. I wouldn't want to anyway because of the concern about the porters breaking them. Put them on a folding luggage cart or pack them inside a small rolling suitcase and then carry it onboard yourself.

Ok so where in Port Canaveral can you get good micro brew beer?
Siera Navada, Blackened Voodo, Something with some body not your typical pilsner.

Your best bet will be ABC Fine Wines & Spirits. They have a location in Cape Canaveral on A1A. I'm sure you can find Sierra Nevada there. And I would be surprised if you could not also find Blackened Voodoo there as well.

Thanks Dave.....I might call to see if they have or can get my precious Voodoo...:D :D

We have a collapsable cooler on wheels. Is it okay to put our drinks in the cooler (with out ice of course) and wheel it on as one of our carrier ons?
