Does AKL have their own?

Bus. Or does it stop at other resorts too? I read some where you can wait an hour for the bus at AKL, I hope it's not try. Should we rent a car if the bus lines are long?

Yes, AKL has its own bus. Waiting an hour for a bus is very rare, but it does happen. Remember though, if you were to drive, you have to drive, park, walk to the tram/boat/whatever, and finally get to the park. That will take time too.

Stayed at AKL twice and bus service was great both times. Only bus that took a while was DTD one afternoon, and that was about 30 minutes.

The bus is not shared with anyone... I think it's the best bus service on property! I have never waited more than 25 minutes for an AKL bus. I have waited MUCH longer for buses at other resorts, and we had horridly long waits to get back to the hotel from the parks when we stayed at Pop Century... we would get back to the hotel about 2 hours after leaving the parks, it was just horrible, especially when the bus stop was the last one in the lineup at MK and the end of the line was almost back to park entrance! Last year we had a couple of late dinners at the Poly and the bus there really stunk too, they take a very long time to get there, then you have to go to other resorts and if the parks are already closed you end up going to DTD and then have to wait for another bus to get back... makes for a very, very long night.

In short... you should LOVE the bus service at AKL and I wouldn't even think about renting a car while staying there... Pop, yes... AKL, no.

We had no problems at Pop with the bus. So now I'm sure we wouldn't have problems with AKL. Maybe we will rent a car for a day when we go to Sea World. If we rent a car for a day what do we do about booster seats for the kids? ANyone know?

you can rent them from the car company...its expensive and the seats are kind of icky. we rented a carseat one time but i wished i had just brought my own.

I've found the DTD bus to be slow at other resorts (GF in our case) too. We are staying AKL this summer and do not anticipate any bus issues

AKL buses are the best! However, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we may have picked people up at a water park once or twice returning from a park. Does that sound right?

AKL is our primary resort and we have never waited more than 20 minutes for a bus to show up. The ride is very quick as well. We usually go in January and May, so sometimes it's slow season and sometimes it's regular.

I think this is one of the great advantages of AKL. You are not making numerous stops when you are coming and going from the parks. As for the time it takes from DTD it is normally slow because depending on where you get the bus in DTD you then go to the other DTD stops.

You're right, Minniemom97 - they do stop occasionally and pick people up/or drop off at Blizzard Beach, which is about 5 min. from AKL. That is where we saw an entire armidillo family, on the grass leading up to Blizzard Beach.

In the "unofficial" guide, the transportation graph times look LONG to some of the parks. My husband and I were just looking at it last night and NEVER remember the bus ride being even half the time as stated in the book. (I know it happens, but not when we were there.) We found the buses to be prompt.
