I bought my tickets on Airtran a few months ago. Now they've come down in price by $11. There are 3 of us going. If I call, will Airtran give me credit for the $66.00?

yes. You will receive credit that must be used within a year. We just used some of our credit to pay for our luggage fee.:goodvibes

When I saw your post I checked our fare and it went down too. I couldn't find out how to get the credit and found this...

Specials and Sale Fares
I have already purchased my tickets and have seen specials for a less expensive fare. Can I get the lower price?

A $75 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase, plus any applicable increase in airfare. Any changes to your reservation must occur at least 1 hour prior to departure.

If you wish to change your reservation, please contact our reservation center at 1-800-AIR-TRAN (1-800-247-8726). If you originally booked your reservation at AirTran.com, you may retrieve your booking and make your changes online."

If anyone finds out anything different, please post because I'd love to get a bit of credit towards our baggage fee. I'm kicking myself because we're flying the day after Thanksgiving and we ALWAYS book Southwest because of their flexible policies. They were very expensive for that day, however, so I booked Air Tran thinking that the fares would only go up for that holiday weekend. If I would have booked SWA, I could have saved over $200 because the fare DID go down on SWA. Who knew?:confused3

How does it work to use the credit for luggage? Can you pay online before you go or did you pay at check in?

TIA

Sal

I'm also interested in knowing the logistics of using part of our credit towards the luggages fees.

I don't know the answer to this question although I am also looking to see if I have any credit coming. I wanted to pass on this tip my wife and I use when we can. Before the flight leaves they usually offer unsold first class seats for about $45.00. When groups are going you can check luggage in to your bennifit also because first class covers bagage fee's n/c. This savings, the room, the free drinks, and passenger on and off are nice for the price. We fly from Flint, MI direct because they are cheep and 2hrs 10 min to Orlando.

I called when our flights went down and he applied the difference. He said it would be held as a credit under our confirmation # and the agent who checks our bags would subtract it from the bag fee.

We got $48.xx back..

They do not advertise it, but yes, they do give you credit. I also was told we could use it for baggage. Just call!! Our flights went down $25 a piece!!:cool1:

As everyone else has said, yes, if you call, they will give you a credit.

To apply the credit toward your luggage fees, you CANNOT CHECK-IN ONLINE. You have to go to the airport and check them in at the counter and be sure to ask them to apply your credit. We just did this for our flight at the end of July, and I'm pretty sure if I hadn't said something, they wouldn't even have bothered looking at my account. We had $46 in credit, so we used $20 on the way out of town, $20 on the way back in, and had $6 leftover that alas, we will probably never use.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! Just to confirm - We need to go into the airport and check in at the counter. In the past we've just done curbside check-in but I assume we can't do that if we want to apply our credit to luggage fees?

(We haven't flown since 2008 --- curbside check-in might not even be around anymore??)

Not sure about curbside. You could always ask them there if they can apply the credit. (There were only 2 of us, with one bag, so we just went all the way in, where I knew for sure they'd be able to take care of it.)

Thanks for this information... our flight cost has gone down by about enough to cover the charge for seating preference! (I'm not not sitting by my daughter!)
