Does a smell bring you back?

Ok, I know I have a slight problem. Im a Disney addict. So much so that we were driving the other day with the windows open and I smelled a smell that I can't explain. But it reminded me of frontierland. I guess it was Barbecue. Charcoal or something. I had to stop for a minute and take a big wiff.
Do you think I need to seek psychiatric help?

I haven't been able to find any smells that brings me back yet....

But once I get there....it feels like home.

For me it's the smell of DTD...Mostly the Christmas store...There's a particular smell that I can only find there. And since we usually always go on our first night in WDW, the minute I step in to the X-mas store, feel like I'm home!

I know what you mean! :teeth:

That musty smell of warm, wet asphalt (like at the Wal-Mart parking lot after a rain) brings me back. Everytime I smell it, I ask my daughter, "do you know what it smells like?" and she will say, "YEAH!! Disney world!!! "

Guess my daughter agrees with me.

Also, the smell of chlorine in a swimming pool takes me back! We do not swim anywhere else but the world!

If I ever get a good whiff of diesel fumes from some truck or bus...I immediately think of WDW as it brings to mind the smell from the buses there. It's strange, and perhaps I need a psychological assessment myself, but it's undeniable every single time I smell it.

Go figure...

I actually go to Bath and Body Works before every Disney Trip and get a new scent and use it that whole time so when I get back, I just have to take a sniff and it brings me right back! For example, Coconut and Lime=week at Old Key West, Cucumber Melon=Very first trip to Contemporary, Candy Apple=Disney Cruise. It's amazing how your smell sense works! I have now started taking the wall outlet thingees too in the same scent so the whole room smells like it. Now I need a new scent for this upcoming trip just for me and dd!

Whenever I smell roses, it reminds me of Figment and the old Imagination ride.

Sometimes when the rain has sprinkled just enough to cause a musty smell, it will remind me of the Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland. The interior of that ride has such a distinct smell. It will be fun to see if the WDW version of the ride smells the same as its Disneyland counterpart.

WHen I smell that hot tar sidewalk or tar paved road, it makes me think of MK and the railroad.

The smell of the Poly is like no other smell. Just walking into the lobby lets me know I'm home. The other smell is in the Settlement Trading Post at my real home-Ft. Wilderness!

The old smell of IASW. It's a smell that is unique, but we have ride at Six Flags that smells similar. It's a boat ride with audioanimatronic figures as well and I always wish I were on IASW instead

Daxx's Wife here. Smells are definitely connected to your memories!

DS8 bought me a cinnamon candle for Christmas from his school's Santa's Secret Workshop. When I opened it, I immediately said "It reminds me of Mickey's Philharmagic!" -- the scene w/Lumiere and the pie. DS said that is why he bought it -- it reminded him of the same thing and he knew it would remind me of that, too! I love, love, love that cinnamon smell and frequently take whiffs of the candle and it transports me right to Mickey's Philharmagic!

At the movie theatre, when I walk in and smell the popcorn, sometimes I close my eyes and pretend that I am walking through the gates of WDW and under the train ... b/c it always smells like popcorn there. Daxx thinks I'm crazy.

We used to have this mall restaurant that had water dripping down like rain from the top of it ... I can't remember the name as it's since closed ... kind of a jungly place (but not Rainforest Cafe) and the smell of that water reminded us of the Mirage in Las Vegas! Daxx and I would take a deep sniff and say "Vegas!" every time we were in the mall!

I don't think we need psychiatric help ... we're just proud Disney addicts! At least that's my excuse!

The Rome burning smell in Spaceship Earth. Kinda smells like bacon bits.
yes i smell that everywhere and sometimes when it rains over night it smells like a florida morning.

It gives you a nice natural high and helps you on your day :)

I haven't really found any smells that really take me back. The smells that I really look forward to that make me feel like I am at Disney are the smells of mainstreet. I think it must be the bakery. Also, spaceship earth and POC.

Rachel :wave2:

Sometimes when I walk into the Disney Store at our mall I 'smell' it...we love to shop at WDW, and there is a smell that is just the new merchandise smell. I know it sounds crazy, but even both of my girls think it's true

I also agree with some of the above posts - certain chlorine smells or cinnamon and now it will be oranges thanks to Soarin'!

The smell when you're boarding Body Wars and Star Tours... I'm not sure what it is but I love it. A few months ago I caught a whiff of it on my to school from the vans heater... had to close my eyes for a sec and take a few deep breaths before I got used to it...

Each spring when my magnolia blooms, I'm instantly back at POFQ!

the smell of australian gold tan accelorator!!!
I first bought it in Florida,it's very expenxive in UK so i stock up whenever i go.Then i go into overdrive and use it everyday under my suncream.
I got it out last week just to sniff the bottle!then went mad and sprayed it everywhere!! :rotfl: Guess i'm just missing the Disney feeling and needed a quick revival :wizard:
