Last year my girls (then 5 and 8) both used their autograph books and loved it. This year I plan on getting them new ones, but don't know about their brother--he will just have turned 3. I don't think he'll know the difference, as long as he gets his pat on the head from the character. Should I get him one or not? I am also getting the girls Epcot passports (didn't last year).

In 1996 my son at age 4 did collect the autographs. (We are bringing same autograph book back this Oct.) Since his sisters are getting the authgraphs he may realize they are getting something and he is not. I'd probably get him one so there would be no chance of him feeling left out. Better safe than sorry IMHO

Neither one of my girls really care for authographs for one simple reason, they do not want to carry anything and mommy goes empty handed or with a camera at the most, whatever doesn't fit into my fanny pack , mommy does not hold ( they have their own fammy packs) .

I thought that I would be ok not getting my 3 year old an autograph book, but with 3 siblings he had to have one as well.
I would get one, or you can just get autographs in the back of one of the girls books. That`s what we did when he was two.

Get one! It can't hurt, it will only help your child "fit in" with the rest of everyone else standing in line! On our 1st trip, then 3yoDS didn't have one or seem to care, he did ask, though, what the other kids were doing! This trip is 3yoDD's 1st trip and she has one if she wants it! Now-13yoDS, is not taking his book back so, comparing one to the other is out of the picture for me but, I'm ready! DD also has Minnie floppy hat and laundry marker to get her hat autographed! Whatever works!

I've also pre-printed two sheets of 8-1/2X11 good quality paper, autograph pages. Added some text, "Kelly's 1st trip, 2001", etc. and added some movie camera stuff around the edges to simulate Mickey. I'm hoping to get some "Hall of Fame" autographs on these to frame and hang on her Disney-room bedroom walls! On either side of her First Disney Share of Stock, which we're saving until we come home! Also considering bringing a BD card for someone's future BD! (got this idea from the community board! sounds cute!)

There's so many ideas here!! Get the autograph book, At Least!!!

I think your 3 year old is old enough to realize the others have something that he doesn't have. Just watching them get the extra attention from the characters signing their books will make him wish he had one, so I think you should save yourself an extra trip to the store and get him one beforehand! By the way, I can't wait for the day when our daughters don't want these autograph books! It's getting a little old!

My daughter understood autographs, and wanted them, at 17 months! And when we took her back two weeks ago, at 2 1/2, she wanted them even more, and she has no siblings. She saw the other kids getting autographs and she knew that's what she wanted to do. I would definately do it for your son. If he loses interest with it, it's only 6 or 7 dollars down the drain, but if he really likes it, it could be a memory that lasts a lifetime. What we did was, while we were down there, picked up a package of disney character stickers, then put the sticker of the character on the page that they had signed, and then, although she can't read, she knows who's signature it is. She really LOVES that book and looks at it every day. Good luck!

The first day of our trip, we saw Aladin, and my 2 1/2 yo, did not like him. So the book was a waste.

By the second day, she had warmed up to the characters, at the princess breakfast, but I did not take the book. Her older sis had one though. My baby was so cute, trying to get Prince Charming to sign her coloring book. Too bad it was one of
those "magic "books, with the clear ink that only colors on special paper. She got very upset when she could not find his name.

Needless to say, I felt terrible. She took hers the rest of the week.

Have Fun

He'll tell you if he wants one. If he wants one, get one for him while you're there.

My 2yo ds was afraid of some of the characters. For the most part he really liked them. I ofcourse took pictures of my children with the characters the in my album I put the autographs with the, it helped my ds to recognize the name. You can always take it bake next time you go.

I'm not sure that any 3 year old really cares about autographs. I think its more the attitudes of others around the child that make a difference, but in the world view of a toddler, I think it is a very minor thing, considering all there is to experience at WDW.

Besides, how many things can you truck around the parks especially if there is unknown interest for the item, anyway?

My dd had one last week when we were there. She is 3 1/2 and was quite nervous of the characters. The book really helped her to interact with them, as she just had to hand her book over, and didn't need to say anything.
By the end of the week, she was strolling over for he autographs/photo's like an old pro.

T would get it. It makes a nice souvenier for them to look at years from now. I actually regretted not getting one for my 4mo son on my last trip. I plan on getting him one for our next trip, which is a week before his 1st birthday. He may not remember the trip, but, he'll have the autographs to go along with photos and video.

On our last trip in December, she was 3 , and she loved it...

She made her own autograph book, with clip art of different characters on each page, clip art on the front and back, her name, laminated and bound.. all for about a $1, (that was to laminate and bound)

She got comments all the time by the CM.s on it.. She was really proud that she made it.

We also did something similiar in the Epcot passport. Since my son was learning geography, but he couldnt read, (he was 5 and a K student then), we did clip art of a flag for each country represented at Epcot. Bound and laminated as well, for $1...

He got tons of comments from the CMs as well.

I couldn't resist picking one up during our visit this past weekend along witha big pen because my 2 1/2 yr old DD had her first character lunch and I figured what time but then would be a good time to start it. She'll be able to look back on it in a few years and be thrilled that she has record of meeting so many characters since she was just 2 1/2.

When, she fills that one up, then we can get more creative and make our own (she'll appreciate doing that when she gets a little older).

I have a great story that shows just how much my 2 1/2 wanted autographs..

We had books for both kids and were doing the animation tour at MGM. It was our first day at WDW and we had only collected a few autographs. We were at MGM and were doing the animation tour. As we left the area where the cartoonist does a demostartion she went nuts. She would not leave the room and kept grabbing at me. She want him to sign her autogragh book. Not only did he sign it (after getting over the shock) but drew her a pic of Mickey. Of course Ds hadt o get one too, then all theo ther kids in the group taking the tour wanted one too (was only about 5 or 6 altogether).
At epcot she got Mulans autograph and started crying as we walked away. She wanted a picture with Mulan.
She madesure on our trip that she had autographs and pic of all the characters. If we forgot she reminded us.

We had one for our DD who had just turned three prior to our trip last November. She loved it...also got an I-Zone camera with sticky film. She loved to get the autograph and then stick the picture of her with each character next to their autograph!! Got ours at Sam's for $30 with two rolls of sticky film!!:bounce:

Why us a book? We used a "2001" Disney shirt for our just turned 5yo son and he loved it. He wears it to school and shows all his friends all of the autographs.

To be honest, there are very few rides and things that a 3 year old can do...... so the autograph book is a great substitute.....

We went in April and while dad and big brother did some things that I didn't mind missing, I took my daughter on Autograph adventures.........

Plus it gave her something to look at while we were waiting for the parades.

actually a 3 yr old can do most of the things at WDW. I bielve I counted 9 rides all together from the 4 parks that a 3 yr old can not do

MK.. Space mountain, splash Mountian, Thunder Mountain, Alien Encounter

Epcot..test track

AK..Kali river Rapids, dinosaur

MGM...Rock n roller coaster, Tower of terror.
