Hey everyone,
we are considering to rent from dollar but we need a minivan that has a backseat that folds down- so my question is does a dodge caravans back seat fold down like a chevy venture?? We need that back room to put my brothers wheelchair in.

Thanks so much :cool1:

I have a four year old Chrysler Grand Voyager, which is the same thing with a different badge (I think). The back of my back seat folds flat. I believe more recent models have better seat folding methods.

If you Google 'Dodge Caravan' you will find full details on the Chrysler website.

You might ask this question over on the DISabilities board - several wheelchair users that post there drive Dodge Caravans.

I have a 99 caravan and the back seat folds down or it can be completly removed very easily. I have hauled all sorts of things in mine so a wheelchair should be no problem. I love my caravan!

The back seat in a Caravan will fold down. A Grand Caravan (one with a longer wheelbase) has more room behind the seat than the regular Caravan.

Some of the newer Caravans (I think just the Grand Caravans) have an option called "Stow and Go" seats that actually fold flat into the floor so when it is folded, you have a completely flat space. The Grand Caravan we rented in Orlando last Spring had those seats and it was very convenient. This site has pictures of the Grand Caravan seating and if you click on the big picture where it says "Stow N Go Learn More" you get a movie that shows how the seats work.

Just rented a Grand Caravan last week, LOVED IT!! Yes, the seats fold down flat, we had just left our 1999 Voyager, where my dh had to remove the seat home!!

YES thank you everyone for making us feel more content that we picked the right vehicle- you guys simply are the best :cheer2:
Thanks and happy holidays to you all!!

I just had a Grand Caravan from National's EA for 11 days. Sure did not need it for myself, but that was all that was on the EA that morning. It was nice. And yes, folded down, very easily, 1, 2, 3.

Depending on how wide your brother's wheelchair is and whether it can fold, you may be able to get it behind the seat without putting the seat down if you have a Grand Caravan. My DD's manual wheelchair is 27 inches wide at its widest point and 38 inches high. By popping off the wheels (she has quick release tires like a bicycle), we are able to get it down to about 19 inches wide.
By pushing the back seat all the way forward with a Grand Caravan that didn't have the Stow and Go Seats, we were able to make enough space behind the back seat for the wheelchair. I realize my DD's wheelchair is smaller than most (a narrow adult wheelchair), but hers doesn't fold. If your brother's chair folds, you may be able to fit it behind the seat even if you don't have a Stow and Go van.

No Sue my brothers wheelchair doesnt fold so that is why we need the extra room. Also , there is only 4 of us so the backseat folding down wont be a problem.
Thanks again
