Does a discount on check-in date apply to whole stay?

I apologize if this has been answered. I've looked and can't find it.

If there is a discount that applies for certain dates and we check in on the very last day of the available dates, will that discount apply to the whole trip or only the first night?

Historically, for free dining, if you check-in the last day of the offer, you will get free dining for your whole trip. This does not apply to room-only discounts, however.

Hmm...ok. I'm just trying to figure out how we got our recent rate at Boardwalk. The rack room rate listed at mousesavers says $666/night (including tax) for Easter (Apr 9-20). We stayed at Boardwalk from Apr 8-15 for $496/night (including tax). I'm just trying to figure out how we got that rate I believe Disney had a discount out but it ended Apr 8.

I'm asking because we're budgeting for next spring break. Would we be able to get close to that $496 again? Or was that a fluke? Next year our spring break is the week after Easter.

Sorry, not trying to sound rude, but something just doesn't sound right. If you were there for 7 nights, Friday and Saturday night rates are higher, unless you booked through a travel agent, then, in my experience, they just give you a total cost.

How much of a deposit did you pay for your reservation? Have you included that amount in calculating your nightly rate?

How did you book your stay? Do you have a confirmation saying how much you were supposed to pay a night?

Unless you specifically booked a discounted room, Disney does not just give you a discount because you were there during a certain time period.

Again, apologies if I sound harsh, not trying to be :flower3:

I know the weekend rate was higher. I was giving an estimate (took total for week and divided by 7). I booked directly on the Disney website a room only reservation.

Per my email confirmation:
Reservation price $3088.50
Tax $386.06
Total $3474.56
Deposit $477.56
Balance due:$2997.00

Oh, okay, according to MouseSavers, there was a general public discount that would of covered your stay:

For stays: 2/20/17-6/10/17
Discount: 10%-25% off room-only rates for general public (also bookable as package)
Date offer expired: 3/30/17

There was an earlier discount offered, maybe that is the one you were thinking you were booked under:

For stays: 1/1/17-4/8/17
Discount: 15%-25% off room-only rates for general public (also bookable as package)
Date offer expired: 1/24/17

As pp said, for room only reservations, a discount only covers the nights stated in offer.

Ok. That makes sense then. I only knew about the one. I guess I assumed they wouldn't offer discounts over Easter so I was surprised that we got one! We booked on Jan 27, 2017.

We are planning spring break again next year in a deluxe resort. Trying to decide if we should rent DVC points and pay $2/point premium to book at 11 months or if we could get a discount on a regular room through Disney. Looking at GF, Poly, or WL. Undecided right now. If we rent, we can't cancel. But if we wait, there may not be a discount and it may price us out.

We will only stay deluxe. Our favorite time to go is in the fall for F&W Festival and for that we usually stay at Boardwalk Inn. We now book with a travel agent (can't say the name) who gets us a good rate, then I don't have to spend time waiting for discounts to come out. We already have our reservation for the fall. We may go other times of the year, but those trips depend on whether a discount is available or not. We tried renting points once, but guess we waited too long, and while understandable, I don't like the no cancellation part of it and don't want to have to buy insurance to cover the possibility of having to cancel.

Yes...I don't like the no-cancel policy either. It's what makes us hesitant...especially with kids (so unpredictable!).

Travel agents can get better rates??? Or are they just searching for the discounts available to the public?

We used a travel agent for the first time for our trip last year and she messed up so many things for our trip that I'm hesitant to use an agent again.

Yes, TA's who work with the WDW groups department can get better rates than general public rates. The August 2017 thread on these boards has info on this.

Yes, they can get a group rate, and also ask for a ticket price as they can get group rates on tickets that are cheaper than UT.
