Husband will have rental car for business. Really can't find anything with all of the amenities- I guess the complimentary transportation would be the most important thing of all. Does anyone know of any? Thanks.

not really.

at most timeshares there is no transportation - or you pay for it. sometimes like the Marriott it is so high that a rental car is cheaper. - $12 per day per person.

I think the Sheraton Vistana Resort is $7 per person per day.

now Embassy suites is not too far.

also in DD there is DoubleTree Guest Suites - which does have transportation to the parks - not quite as good as WDW transportation but not as bad as offsite.

you can get cheaper here - using this sponsor website

or you can stay on WDW property - at a value resort - All star music has suites, FW cabins, POR room - so I don't think you want this one, or 2-bedroom DVC resort rented thru a DVC member. (It will save you some money but won't be as cheap as offsite - especially for a 2-bedroom)

Fairfield Bonnet Creek has complimentary shuttles to the Disney parks on a very limited schedule. They require day-prior reservations.

Fairfield at Cypress Palms has shuttles to the Disney, Universal and Sea World parks on a very, very limited schedule - for a modest fee (under $7 pp R/T, I think), with day-prior reserverations.

The Doubletree Suites on Hotel Plaza Blvd by Downtown Disney may have 2BR suites. They do have complimentary regular shuttles to the Disney parks throughout the day.

I do! OKW, BCV, BWV, VWL, SSR, these all have complimentary transportation. And if you go over the the DVC Rent boards, you might be able to rent points for a two bedroom for the time period that you are going for a very reasonable price.

Or you could just rent a second car and travel on your schedule and stay wherever you like. Rentals are SO cheap in Florida and you wouldn't need anything big.

I hate relying on public transportation. Of course, you could take a bus or cab, but I'd get an economy rental.

I agree with renting a car or renting points from a DVC Member (not sure of your dates). But if you do reserve a car, try and do it at least 4-6 months in advance. You tend to get a better rate. I had to really search hard for a decent rate for our October trip. This trip was last minute. I booked the airfare the end of August (8/27) and for the 4 nights we're there I was getting like $200 for a small car ! I finally got a discount code on the Southwest site and got a compact (Dodge Neon) from Dollar for $140. But I even felt that was high for only 4 days.....but it was the cheapest I could find and I was using all kinds of codes to search.

These DVC resorts have great 2BD and all ammenities plus free transportation to all parks and DTD. There are wonderful LARGE rooms will full kitchens and more. We love them and now my kids are very spoiled especially when we stay in a 'normal' hotel room......

Fairfield has that, I havent stayed at one yet but going to in June. They told me that they have added some new way around the parks.

That is really high. Have you checked again lately? I recently booked an intermediate with Alamo for Sept 27-Oct.3 (6 days) for $104 incl all taxes/fees. I think it's gone up about $5 since I booked but check again. Alamo has great online coupons too, $20 off. If you belong to Costco wholesale club, or don't mind taking a chance since I've never been asked ID before, their website Costco.com offers many coupons and discount codes. It also give you a free additional driver. Just go to their website, click on Travel then click on Rental cars. Good luck :goodvibes
Another option is to recheck their last minute specials on Alamo's website when it gets closer to your dep. day. about 1-2 weeks prior.

How do you rent from DVC? Do you have to be members or anything?
Excess inventory is rented through WDW as standard hotel reservations, but you'll pay an arm and a leg for a 2BR villa: $500 per night at an absolute minimum.

If you rent points from an owner, you can get the same room for about 2/3 the rack rate on a weekly basis---less if you restrict yourself to Sun-Thu.

As Brian Noble stated, you'd do better renting from an owner (you don't have to be one to do this). YOu can get info right here on the DIS : http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29
But the points really jump up for Fri and Sat night stays. You can get a 2 bedroom at OKW for anywhere from $220--$410/night (Sun thru THurs) depending on what time of the year you visit. Most Members charge $10/point to rent.

I haven't checked again since the end of August. I had searched for like 2 hours for that $140 (that was the cheapest I could find using various codes etc). I will check again just to see. Your rate is very good. I will add, though, that I'm flying in and out of Tampa airport due to a $39 each way DING on SW. Maybe it's Tampa that has higher rates ?
