We were going to have dinner at Ohana this October having never eaten there, but I've been reading so many negative things about it lately, I don't know if we should. Opinions please. Thanks.

I personally LOVE O'hana. I had read all the reviews about the menu changes that have recently occured and I must admit I was disappointed, but we went for a friends birthday and I liked the new menu just as much as the old one (although I do miss the pineapple and caramel that they used to have for dessert). I would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends and would go there anytime. Thumbs up from me :)

Most of the negative reports you have probably been reading are about the change in menu. If you will notice those negative reports are mostly from people who have not eaten there since the change. We ate there on Christmas eve and I have to say it was as good as we remember from our previous trips. I would recommend this restaurant, it is one of the better dining experiences at WDW.

Our family thought 'Ohana was terrific! :flower: We ate there this past October, and we all agreed it was one of the best meals we had that week. DD had fun doing the coconut races and hula contest, and DH and I enjoyed the view from the windows overlooking the 7 Seas Lagoon.

The food was great- we had never eaten there prior to the menu changes, but we enjoyed everything very much! Tha shrimp, steak, and dessert especially stood out for us.

Go, and have a good time- my view is, judge for yourself. Other people's opinions are just that- opinions. You might have a totally different one than them. We did!

Yes, just what I was hoping to hear. We stay at the Poly, and have never taken the time to eat there, but have always wanted to. This Oct. we're going to make it a priority. Thanks everyone for the insight.

We had dinner there last Sunday...everything was very good.... :flower:

I love Ohana! I'll be there in 19 days!

no way we love it !!!..cant wait to go and have the character breakfast with stitch...

I have eaten here twice, would I return maybe.

While I like the food, I'm not a big meat eater, and I do find the meat to be on the dry side.

We enjoy Ohana's and make it a return restaurant during each trip.

We ate there a month ago, and it was second to only Le Cellier.
We loved 'Ohanas.

If it is somewhere you want to try, then you should. Don't base your decisions on other people's opinion. If we all liked the same thing, then there would only need to be one restaurant, one park, one type of clothing, etc. I thought I would hate Boma's and almost cancelled our ressie. Glad I didn't, it's one of my favs now.

I know of the changes, but I am looking forward to eating there again in 12 days!!!!!

'Ohana is our favaorite restaurant in all of Disney World! Fantastic food and a great atmosphere.

We ate there in September and were not impressed. Our waitress was almost non-existant. The biggest thing wrong was the dirty plates and raw pork that she tried to serve me. She actually put it on my plate and told me that she didn't think it was done. Having Salmonella before, I got irate. I demanded new plates for everyone and well done pork. When she brought it back, it was almost pork jerky.... Needless to say, we don't think we will be going back to O'Hana's in August

We really enjoy Ohana and go there every trip. We have been since the menu has changed and we still enjoy it!

Without reading the other replies first, I will give my opinion on 'Ohaha, for what it's worth. LOL

I've dined there 3 times; twice before the changes (once last summer 2005 and once in 2002), and once since the changes, Oct 2005. The two best meals were both last year. My first time there in 2002 the meats were very dry. Both meals last year, the meats were much, much better!

Personally I like the changes to the menu at 'Ohana, although I found nothing wrong with the original menu. I don't eat shrimp but my DH does, and he said the new shrimp was very good, just different than the old shrimp. We both liked the potatoes better than the rice. We LOVE rice, but felt it was a bit dry and lacked any real flavor. While we both LOVE pineapple and enjoyed the pineapple and caramel, we were able to get that every night at the Polynesian concierge lounge anyway, so we really enjoyed the new dessert of bread pudding with the bananas foster sauce, and ice cream.

We are planning a trip for this May and would definitely consider going back to 'Ohana if it fits into our plans and schedule.

I have some pictures of our meals there on my web site! The link is below. On my main page, scroll down a little until you see the restaurant sections from our July 2005 trip and the Fall 2005 trip :sunny:

Ohana was one of our favourites before the menu changes and we still love it. We had a fantastic waitress in Oct and enjoyed the entertainment as always.

It's definitely on our do not miss list. I haven't been since last May, but other than the fact I am going to miss the pineapple at the end of the meal, I don't think the menu changes will be a problem for me.

While I do like to read other peoples reviews, I know that every single WDW restaurant is going to have some poeple who rave about the food/ experience and some who hated it. (Plus everything in between.) For instance, I'm not all that wild about CG and you couldn't drag me to HDDR or Chef Mickey's again. But I know loads of people who love all three. That's why it's good there are so many options. :)
