Doctor's office RANT: I HATE waiting!!!

our mammography dept always runs behind. why? because the hospital makes us overbook because our dept makes too little money(low reimbursement) and the beancounters look at the bottom line not at good patient care. we have to make up in volume.

HOGFAN, roughly how many patients a day do you have that are no-shows?

I have no problem with waiting(and I have waited up to 3 hours before)--the way I look at it is that the doctor is with another patient whether it be in the office or at the hospital who needs them obviously much more that I at that particular time---someday I may be that patient in need.

honey don't get me started-back in november i waited 40 minutes at my pcp's office JUST to get a b-12 shot! talk about FURIOUS! they had THREE patients in the waiting room! immediately upon leaving i called my surgeon (i'm a gastric bypass patient so i have to have b-12 shots each month) and explained what happened and now i have vials of b-12 and syringes for my cousin (who's an RN) to give me my shots each month!

Pea-N-Me

Not many usually, our biggest problem is patients showing up late. That throws the schedule way off. Or if they need an ultrasound but arent scheduled for one and we have to work them in. sometimes an add-on ultrasound patient waits 1 to 1 1/2 hour for one. they are given the option to come back on another day but invariably they opt to wait, and then complain about the wait. :confused3
