This thread is at least partly inspired by Sue (Florida Sun) ;)

What did anyone think of the show last night? I must admit I rather enjoyed it but the dummies did scare me :earseek:

I'm glad I watched it without my DDs first though as I don't think it's suitable for them (they would be hiding behind the sofa, LOL)

I think Christopher Eccleston makes a great Doctor, undecided about Billie Piper (though to be fair her acting's better than her singing. 'Nuff said ;) )

We really enjoyed it. I was pleased that it still managed to scare me without really big special effects. The walking shop dummies had been done before. I loved the wheelie bin attack.

I know and they scared me then but I'm in my thirties now so should have grown out of that, LOL

And I'm in my forties but was hiding behind my eight year old, who wasn't scared at all and said "It's only a TV programme, Mum!!!:rotfl:"

It was OK, not a big fan. Looking forward to Sues starring appearence though :)

My DS 9 and DD8 didn't want to watch it but I persuaded them. They sat in silence and then complained like mad that it was too short and they needed to see what happened next! :confused3

I enjoyed it, Christopher Eccleston IS Doctor Who although I am also unsure about Billie Piper. Still its good to have something we can watch together and is slightly scary.

It seems strange to kids now that they actually have to wait a week for the next episode. It made me realise why nothing is quite so exciting for them, they have everything on DVD or digital cable.

When will the Daleks be back? Can't wait for that!

All the best :wave2:

Not bad.

I liked the Dr...its nice to see a different approach to the role.

Thought the storyline was a bit weak. Parts of it were far too corny for my liking.

Still, it has potential, and I will be tuning in next week!

I loved it.....DS's enjoyed it too - just a wee bit scared of the dummies.

Like Christopher Eccleston too.......... ;) ;)

Think I will reserve judgement. Definately not as scary as when I was a youngster - but maybe ive just grown up! Didnt think Billie was very good but its only the first episode. Loved the sticky wheelie bin - weve got some like that in our street - chewing gums a pain isnt it!! :) Its sorta low tech in this day and age but Im hoping it will grow on me.
My two boys think its great (11 and 14) so a new generation of carpet eaters maybe!!

I'm a huge Dr Who fan and have really been looking forward to this new series. I thought it was . . . . interesting. I think Christopher Ecclestone will really grow on me, Billie Piper seems to have some chemistry with him, so reckon it will definitely get better :sunny:

And OMG did I jump when that arm launched itself at the Doctor from behind the sofa :scared1: :scared1: My DH couldn't watch it for the next few minutes for laughing at me so much :rotfl: .

Ah bliss, back to the good old days when I used to hide behind the sofa when it was on:eek: . The cybermen used to scare me rigid:scared:, so in a way I do hope they will make an appearance, but the daleks leave me cold, so here's their chance to impress me

Roll on next Sat'day :cool1:

Well we loved it, but of course having been in it, I'm a bit biased. Had to watch it through a second time though as spent the first showing trying to recognise all the streets and looking out for places I know. The house where the guy lived who posted the web site is right next door to my aunts house, and I was stood in her window watching that scene being filmed.

Hilary - just to let you know episode 3 was all film in Swansea.

Looking forward to next week.

Sue

I enjoyed it too, just hearing the theme tune made me go all goosepimply! (it used to scare me when I was little ;) )

Christopher Eccleston makes a good Doctor, I'd have no hesitation getting into the Tardis with him :lovestruc :flower: still unsure about Billie Piper though.

I will definitely watch next weeks episode, and yes I found the shop dummies scary too :scared1:

I enjoyed the first episode last night, but thought it was a bit short. The story seemed to move on very quickly. Not sure why they have changed to this single episode per story format rather than spreading a story over a number of episodes. It seems to make the story too 'rushed'.

After everything I'd read about the super special effects and the fantastic acting, I was relieved to find that it's still very naff and the acting is apalling! :teeth:

I loved it, I thought it was very funny and Christopher Ecclestone and Billie Piper were good too, he's gonna make a great Doctor

mandymouse :earsgirl:

I can't believe I missed it! After all my great intentions, I even forgot to record it  I had a pretty good excuse for missing it - I was driving up the M5 at the time (going to see f-i-l in hospital) - but I can't believe I forgot to set the recorder too! Did I miss you, Sue, or was that not the 'right' episode?
Hilary - just to let you know episode 3 was all film in Swansea.
I really am going to make sure I see that one (and the one with you in, Sue ;) )

I have been a lifetime fan of Dr Who and was awaiting its return, its nice ot see that the good doctor saw of Ant and Dec 10.5m to 7m, now he is in good shape for the Darleks in a few weeks.

It was so good I watched it twice, with the repeat on BBC3 at 7pm on Sunday.

Kids would not go shopping today in big department stores!

I loved it :flower: . Was a tad confused...yet i've never watched it before now...but my dad did fill me in alot before hand. Not sure about Billy Piper. I was getting extremely dizzy with all the walking they were doing :rotfl: .

Wow were those dummies s-c-a-r-y .They didn't even have eyes :sad2: *shivers*

DH and I both enjoyed the first episode and we will be watching next week, aggree with the comments that it could have been longer.

I liked the new Dr and Rose, I think I am too young to remember watching the original series. :)

the new doctor has now quit...
saying he doesnt want to be typecast!!!!!!!
helllooooooo thats what being doctor who is all about isnt it?
