We went to see the Dr Who exhibition in Spaceport, Seacombe on Tuesday. The exhibition had been on since September and was moving on by the end of this week, so as we had been meaning to go we thought we had better go while the kids were still off school.

I enjoyed it but there wasn't really a great deal to it, saw everything in 15mins. They had a dalek, cyberman, Auton, some other creatures, several custumes and props. I did enjoy the 'shop front' part, with some old television sets showing an old black and white episode. The opening credits were exactly how I remembered from my childhood and I got that old familiar scary feeling. There was a lot of merchandise, games and jigsaws that I remembered too.

When I saw the dalek I was quite freaked because I am just conditioned to be terrified of them. Some little kid pressed the button that made it move and speak and it took all my willpower to stop myself from running away, I had to keep telling myself it wasn't real. I was impressed that they had one of the spider woman leg's from the Christmas special, and it was lovely to see K9, got a soft spot for him.

It is coming to Manchester in the spring, and apparently will have some exhibits from the new series so we will probably try to catch it again.

DS got a heat sensitive mug that shows 'Bad Wolf' when it's got hot liquid in it, and a pen. DD didn't want anything Dr Who related and got a Spaceport stick of rock.

I enjoyed the Spaceport exhibition too, we had a ride on a simulator, which I thought would be space related, but was actually like the Pod racing in Star Wars, felt like Anakin Skywalker. There was a good planetarium show about the creation of the universe and our solar system. There were lots of hands on type exhibits that the kids always go for and all in all it was a well spent morning.

Sounds like a fun exhibition, Lorraine. We have been to the Doctor Who museum in Blackpool which is great. I too loved seeing K9 and was very freaked out by the Slitheen!

My DD would love to see something like this. I does sound great. Up here in the North east of Scotland we don't get much chance to see these things.

I loved the Doctor Who concert that came from Cardiff that was on tv on Christmas day. That would have been a fantastic spectacle!

Me and bf went to this and TBH we were disappointed =[ It was very expensive to get in (totalled about £17 for the 2 of us) and I didn't find the space stuff to be much cop (and we're both pretty geeky so we do like this kind of thing, just felt they could have done more if they were going to charge so much for entry) plus the theatre wasn't open when we went. Also the Doctor Who section was really tiny, kinda wish we'd waited til Manchester as it probably will be cheaper there and more to see!

Sounds fun. :thumbsup2

Me and my uncle are planning to go when it comes closer to home. :)

It cost us £19 for 2 adults and 3 children, so I didn't think that was too bad compared to the likes of BluePlanet and Chester Zoo. I do agree that the Dr Who exhibition was smaller than I anticipated but I still enjoyed it and will go again when it is in Manchester. We wanted to go to the exhibition in Blackpool last time we were there but ran out of time. As its not too far away though I'm sure we will be back soon.:)
