There's a few threads on the Community Board right now about youngin's and tattoos/piercings. Some posters are saying that as long as their child is living in their home, no tattoos or piercings are allowed.

Which brings me to this; Do your parents have rules about body modification? Body modification qualifies as piercings or tattoos.

-----

The only rule my parents have was that we must be able to take care of it on our own. I have had my ears pierced twice, and 1 tattoo. 1st ear piercing at 8, next at 13, tattoo at 16. My parents were pretty lenient once I told them exactly why I wanted the tattoo.

I find it shocking that some parents will cut off their children if they came home with a tattoo. In the grand scheme of things, it's not going to solve anything.

my mom wanted me to (if i wanted a piercing or tattoo) to pay for it myself (like when i'm out of her house, etc.)

i never wanted one too badly, so we never delved further into rules.

eta
i had my ears pierced when i was very young, and again in sixth grade. ears never really counted i guess?

my mom say's once i'm outta the house i can do whatever i want, but while i'm living with them no tattoos or piercing's other then ears

My parents are open to letting me express myself.. We've discussed it and they'd be OK with me getting a tattoo if I talked to them about if first and agreed to pay for it myself.

That said, I'm a 15 year old guy with no desire to get an ear piercing whatsoever, and no desire to get a tattoo in the foreseeable future.

well
i got first piercing in 2nd grade
second this year for my bd
im getting thirds next semester
then during 2nd semester*if i get good grades* i get my cartlidge

and finally next summer if i do very good in school i get a tattoo :D

Tattoos are fine as long as I don't get something stupid. I can't get a piercing anyways so it doesn't really matter.

Nothing until I move out. Seems to be normal. I just have one piercing in each ear.

I want earrings, but the Disney College Program doesn't allow them for guys... I could get a tattoo if I wanted, maybe in a couple years I will.

My tattoo was my 16th birthday present. No car, no Sweet Sixteen party, nothing. I came home from school, got my tattoo, went home, and had some cake. Aside from some trinkets and money from family and friends, it was my only present. It was only $70 as it's rather small, but it's worth it.
I'm barely 16 1/2 and I'm seriously, seriously thinking about going to get another tattoo. My parents don't really mind anymore, actually. My dad has 2, my mom has none. The rule used to be "no tattoos", then I convinced my parents to let me get one. Now my dad says since the rule is broken, tattoos are okay. ;)

No rules in my house.
My dad has tats, so that would be pretty hypocritical.

I have none yet though, and only my ears pierced.
But if I wanted anything done I wouldn't be stopped, I'd just obviously have to pay for it myself.

I have a tat planned that I really want, it's actually to honour my grampa (who is still alive) but I think if I showed him he'd freak! hahaha

allyson: i dont have my ears done either xD

hahahahahah yes totally katie! :rotfl:

nooooooo, it's because he's survived skin cancer twice.

but if anyone asks i'll say because i wanted to congratulate him on still being alive for so long bahaha

ooh!
hahahaha
i guess if your getting a tat for congratulating him for surviving cancer twice, you are honoring him for being alive if you think about it xD

I'm would so be out of the house if I got a tattoo, and my parents saw. I asked why and they gave me the greatest parent come back ever "Because I said so"
Actually, its just my dad, my mom said she would be fine :confused3
That being said...when I turn 18 in 4 months I'm probablly going to get it anyway. I already know what it is and where it at. My dad won't be able to see it because it will be on my hip/side. Plus I really don't think he's serious about kicking me out. My mom wouldn't let him.

My mom's pretty cool with piercings and tattoos.
She wanted me to get a matching tattoo with her next year, but I dont want the one she does.
My grandma would freak out if I got a tattoo, she flipped when she saw a fake one on me.

My sister got a lot of piercings before she was out of high school. Such as her tongue, and a tattoo as well. My mom wasn't upset.

I have a friend who got a tattoo in January and her mom still doesn't know about it. I don't see what her mom can do about it now, except ground her.

LOL, no. Cait's gramps is a Cancer survivor. (:

lets not make fun of katie xD
lets hmm idk.. worship!
xD

seriously?! I thought yours were pierced. xD
haha nope!
i've had them done like 3 times, they always close up!
