I don't think it's ever been a day off here. It's just not scheduled that way.

Same way here. I grew up in this school system as well, and even 20 yrs ago I don't think we got Veteran's Day off.

We do, however, get the day before Thanksgiving, and maybe some other days as well.

Southern NJ had school today. They were off most of last week for election day and teacher confrence days. That's why last week was Jersey week down at the world, most of NJ flies south.

My kids had school today. Our school has a very nice Veteran's Day program where the veterans came to school and had lunch with their child/grandchild. It was really nice.

They had last Tuesday off for elections since they use some of the schools as voting locations.

Wow I am shocked to hear that some places have school today---they close for every little thing but then don't close for Veterans Day!!! Wow- that SO does not seem right!

Well, ours are some that don't close for Veterans Day, but they don't close for every little thing, either. Just the major holidays, and some teacher work days here and there.

I'm surprised they'd close for Election Day. The actual day of, OK, if they need the school as a polling place, but why on earth would they need to close for 3 days?

Our kids have school on Veterans Day and Columbus Day in exchange for two Jewish holidays earlier in the school year.
